I don't mean physically, I mean career-wise :)

For instance, I think Regla Torres, so far, has being a lot like Justine Henin-Hardenne.

* Both their favorite surfaces are clearly CLAY
* Both won Berlin last year and this year on Charleston (beating the world #1 along the way)
* Both are from countries where there are a lot of top female tennis players now.
* Both are decent doubles players but most of their best results had come from singles

What about yours? :)

Am I alone in thinking this? :(

I can't think of a player that matches my moron :p

Well I modeled my player after Sabine Appelmans. However, her ranking far surpassed Sabine's highest. So I would have to say Mary Joe Fernandez.

-Tiffani has never won a major, neither has MJ.
-Both highest rank is #3 in singles.
-Both are strong doubles players.
-Mainly baseline players with the forehand as their biggest weapon. Tiffani's serve is more powerful.

I modelled my polayer as Conchita Martinez in terms of playing style with lots of spins and shotmaking. Although I would have loved to be like conchi and win Wimbledon :o

I think Jana Novotna:

+Sabine Graf won only 1 GS title in Wimbledon
+She likes to play on fast surfaces
+She hates clay, she lost several matches
+She is a better doubles player at the moment
+Her highest ranking was 2nd

i think Lucia is like Patty Schnyder

*We won Zurich last year
*Very inconsistent
*We won a decent number of singles titles
*a decent doubles player

Um Monica Gambill shes very inconsistant she got a semi in Indian Wells last year as a shock Anne Kremer probably lots of wins against top players(dokic, mauresmo) but losses to lower ranked players aswell!.Oh and highest ranking of 23 isn't kremers top ranking around 25

Some very good comparisons, I agree guys :)

Keep them coming these are interesting.

Lucia is VERY dangerous and a tricky player like Patty too ;)

Jane but you have won Roland Garros, you could be Iva Majoli. You've also been ranked in the top 5 and your favorite surface is clay. Lately you've also been hampered by injuries :)

I really can't think of anyone for Anjelika right now :o

Nicoletta = Virginia Ruano-Pascual

Has Vivi ever won a title? I don't think so and Nicoletta never too! We both prefer playing on clay but have had some succes on other surface(Vivi def. Hingis in Wimby and Nicoletta def. Graf in OZ Open). They play the same way. The only difference is that Vivi is a better doubles player then Nico!

I see a personality match with Anjelica and Tauziat

Sam L this is a brilliant idea for a thread. I wish more people would respond.

Karla, would be like an Anna Kournikova, can score some big wins but never in grand slams.

And BTW Karla has 3 events wins :p ;)

I think Marteena Huubere = Venus Williams. Marteena has won Wimbledon/US Open double like her and has also been #1 briefly. But the major similarity is that you both are hardcourt monsters :o But also very dangerous on other surfaces. You both also have decent doubles records.

Petosp, then Karla ISN'T Anna obviously! :p

I think Im Sandrine Testud. :-s

Always a top 15 player, reaching the top 10 sometimes but not holding there.

Fed Cup winner.

Small titles, Madrid Vienna etc.. and some good finals, as Linz.

Good wins over top players, but not consistent enough.

And very poor results at the Grand Slams.

Try to think of a player like Gianna Adrianna Dulko lol.

She is a clay-court specialist who has now diversified her game but not to the point where it should be. She used to be GREAT at doubles but has focused more on her singles game and now has a much higher ranking in singles than doubles (after struggling in doubles for quite a while). She has really improved this year on her results as compared to her beginner year.

I'm thinking of Alicia Molik maybe????

She represents a country that she was not born in but one that she has citizenship to and speaks the native tongue.

I guess this is the anomaly ;) Cuz I SURE AINT NO MARY PIERCE! ;) :P

I think that Anna Kroulikova is a lot like Anna Kournikova of 2000. Doesn't lose first round often but gets beaten in QF, SF, F. Prefers playing on Hard and Grass. Has good doubles results!

Bryanne Applegate probadly more likes Nathalie Tauziat because she always do well on faster surfaces (Grass and Carpet) and has a title on these surfaces. She also do well on Hard but never won a title on the surface. She hates Clay and hardly to win a match on the surface.

Do you agree with me?

Sam L
Apr 26th, 2003, 02:35 PM
And Bryanne is a serve/volleyer and a tour veteran too. You're right Bryanne = Nathalie, perfect fit :)

Gisele is Alexandra I think
Semis at Wimbledon
Finals at Memphis
But she had a consistent clay season last year, and won S'Hertogenbosch
:o

I have two players names in my player (Amanda Coetzer and Liezel Huber). I think at the moment my career is more like Liezel's - better in doubles! This year my player's doubles has been fantastic! ;)

Chanda Rubin = Lindsay Sarile

could come up with a few upset tier 2 wins

good doubles player

came back from injuries (though lindsay's was more like attack than injury)

does well on hard courts

Eva can't think of anyone who stands out as her WTA equivalent :o
