Well it would have been nice to know that 2nd week grand slam challengers count before we signed up for them.

Are those numbers the amount we've already played or that we have left?

Make sure you have your entries correct because you will only be able to play one more Grand Slam after Roland Garros:
Zerene Fernandez - 9
Katarina Molik - 9
Yadira Mendivil - 10
Jacquelyn Whitten - 10

The following players have exceeded their allotted amount (note this is projections for after Roland Garros/Surbiton)
Mirjana Huubere - 13
Caroline Mutola - 11 :o

Jacquelyn withdrew from others so after Dothan and French Open she should be at 8, leaving Wimbledon and the US Open.
Thanks

Umm excuse me, but I only signed up for the challengers in the second week of grand slams or major tournaments on the understanding that they did not count.

IF SURBITON COUNTS IN MY TOURNAMENT TOTAL (I thought as it was second week of RG it doesnt count but oh well), Katarina Krivencheva-Molik would like to withdraw from Surbiton. THIS IS ONLY IF IT COUNTS. I will stay in the draw if IT DOES NOT COUNT.

Yeah Katarina I thought they didn't count either. They've said all along that 2nd week of 2 week events didn't count :(

Scotso

This is outrageous. Zerene has 5 more events and she will play them. We were told that those events in the second week did not count, and they will not count.

Scotso

challengers during the 2nd week of Indian Wells and Miami do not count as events entered for your 30 tournament total :)
Zerene Fernandez:

*Bogota
*Acapulco - main draw WC?

if they're free:

*Phoenix
*San Luis Potosi

notice I only wanted to play if they were free. When I was put in the draw, I assumed that meant that they were.

I also notice that Mirjana and Jacquelyn said they only wanted to play them if they were free.

Thanks Scott.
I've been keeping track of mine very carefully and certainly would not have played all of the challengers if they were not free events.

The same goes for the Dothan challenger counting as one of the 30. Last year when I first started following the game again I remember the challenger that was the same week as Fed Cup did NOT count. This year when I asked in a commitment thread whether or not Dothan would count I wasn't given an answer...I assumed it wouldn't for Caroline or Jacquelyn.

I too was under the impression that some challengers we could play without having them count.....that's why i played in them!!!!!

Apr 24th, 2003, 05:42 AM
Well I knew. I think it's unfair to take them off now. I thought it was made quite clear to everyone that everything counts

Whar about Anne-Laure Vandelion?

Scotso
Apr 24th, 2003, 12:12 PM
It's not taking them off now, it's keeping them off. It was not made quite clear. We only would have played them if they were free.

sam L, I confirmed with BOTH Alx and Vsfan1 that challengers in the second week did not count in the tournament total. I am going to follow Scotso and continue to play the tournaments that I signed up for and planned to sign up for. If I had known that all those challengers counted in my total, then I wouldn't have signed up for them and saved it for tier level tournies! Notice I did not sign up for Dothan or other challengers that were the same week as Tier IV's etc., as I knew they would count!

Alek

Those challengers do not count (2nd weeks ones). Remember that is for pro's and same for the jrs ones.

But, Dothan DO COUNTS in the total. And every other challenger counts. Except the 2nd weeks one.

Thankyou! SO... I expect a CORRECT version of how many tournaments we have played to be posted soon.....

Thankyou Alx and VSFan1 for your hard work. This was a misunderstanding but it needed to be cleared up!

All you need to do is subtract the number of second week challengers you have played from your total and you will know :p

Apologies to all for the misunderstanding. It's sad that one of you had to be a drama queen about it, but the problem is fixed now.

Anne-Laure and Elke -- this list is only for juniors that have a pro also.

Don't call me a drama queen, Josh

I had a right to make a fuss when you were wrong about this, don't get snappy just because you were.

Scott, I did not name anyone, but I guess the guilty mind speaks ;).

Jacquelyn, Fleur, Katarina, et. al. to those that were understanding, I appreciate your patience.
