Switzerland I think are comfortable through!

I wonder why Mikaelian wasn't playing, I was thinking of the French/Armenian conflict!

The doubles should have no toruble, Emmanuelle IMO has the best dropshots in the game and also very good volleyes, shes been playing very well with Petra, Schnyder is no slouch to, She has very good reach and excellent court coverage, disguises her shots extremly well in doubles and also is a good volleyer, together I think they make a real full doubles team, alot of specialist components and have alot of the Doubles skills and ettiquites!

Vai Gagliardi/Schnyder :)

it's a shame Martina isn't competeting  :) Then thats one part of the Team which would be superior and act as a Brick Wall!

15 year-old Tzvetana Pironkova made her Fed Cup debut for Bulgaria and caused Yugoslavia’s Katarina Daskovic some headaches. Daskovic took the first set but found herself 5-3 down in the second after a succession of seemingly endless rallies that left both players gasping for breath. The second set lasted a marathon one hour and 14 minutes before the more experienced Yugoslav came back to take the match in a tiebreak, the final score 62 76(5). World ranked no. 14 Magdalena Maleeva levelled the tied after fighting off a strong challenge from Jelena Jankovic 62 36 63. The Yugoslav’s, however, would not be denied a seeding upset and Daskovic partnered Dragana Zaric to successfully overcome Maleeva and Dessislava Topalova 63 36 60.

Apr 23rd, 2003, 07:50 PM
at the moment Group D is:

1)Hungary
2)Poland
3)Great Britain
4)Ireland
5)Netherlands

1st three are split on 'tie difference', Hungary are +4, Poland are +1, and Britain are -1.

Hungary have a 'tie in hand' and are almost certain group winners, unless they loose to Poland.

2nd spot will be decided by Britain vs Netherlands.
