Assuming their domination continues, when do you think they'll give us that jaw dropping 7-6 6-7 10-8 final we're all waiting for?

And who do you think will come through? (Assuming they're both even, and it just comes down to who wants it more)

My Pick:
2004 Olympics, Venus defends her title 7-6(5) 6-7(3) 7-6(6)

Wimbledon, this year, in the final.

7-6(26-24) 6-7(48-50) 52-50 Venus

I think it will have to be a game strangled by passion!!! The Wimby final was good, but mainly becuase Rena was 100%, but Venus was not. The Aus Open final was tense, but the tennis was not great. Actually it started well, and kinda fell to pieces as the match went on.

nice one VF

yeah, Wimby was great. Serena was stradling that baseline like no other, but V, as always was off

however its very encouraging that an Off Venus could stretch Serena like that when she was playing well, after that 1st set Venus just gave up :(

I'm praying/hoping for Wimbledon :-)

It won't happen until Venus gets over the Serena block.

While the 2002 Wimbledon was a good match...why wasn't Venus serving as hard. Look at the stats. In the SF Venus was in the 118-120 range...in the F she was in the 105-110 range.

Why the difference? ;)

venus has to be hypnotized to think she is playing hingis and serena has to be hypnotized to think she is playing capriati or davenport, then we'll have a 6-7 7-6 100,000,000-998,000,000 match!

US Open 2005, after 12 (?) straight Sister Slams :p and a Golden/Silver Sister Slam in 2004; finally there are no nerves involved and they are just playing to see which of them is the best of all time. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

By now Venus is a true serve and volley player (she needs to end points quick because she had apartments to decorate) :p and Serena has an All Star entourage of Hollywood's most famous in the stands cheering on the Best Supporting Actress Nominee.

Richard is now too busy trying to become a Hollywood Director to actually attend the match but CBS has a special Richard camera following him (his new trophy wife Anna Kournikova :p :p :p and his new best friend John McEnroe) in Los Angeles.

Williams wins the match.

Well, if you watched it, which I know you didn't, you would have known that Venus was suffering from a sore shoulder, and they didn't know if she would even go out there for the doubles. ;)

also, i think V wanted to get a higher percentage

unfortunately that didnt work :(

but i think it will be Wimbledon as well, or the Olympics as i said

both really really want to win those trophies

You know, their styles of play are so much the same that the level can't be as good as when the put everyone else back in their corners...

But I think they are soming better and better, well excelpt the Us Open...I think in Wimby or Us Open this year will be the start of a new Sista's era, with Venus domintaing (when can dream no?)

Well anyway, good luck too them!!! You rock girlz!

people say this, but i dont get it

Venus and Lindsay play similarly, except Venus serves harder and runs better and they've had good matches

Serena and Lindsay too, Jennifer too (well, kinda)

ermm I think the AO final this year showed some pretty damn good tennis, except for Vee choking out at the end.

I truthfully don't think they will ever play their best tennis when they play each other. But I hope in the future..but IMO doubtful. It will either be Serena playing at her best or Venus playing at her best, I can't see them play equally "best" against each other.

anyway, I kind of agree with the nut I mean Mr. Man on this one. One is always off and I think that will continue.

Wimbledon was good but Vee wasn't feeling too well. The first few games of USO were really good... power hitting but then you saw Ree KILL... blah. The same for AO, the first 3 setter in GS Final and that was surprising but Ree was off second set and the last set yielded a blah.

We've seen them both go after titles they've equally wanted at the same time and one still dominated save 1st set wimbledon. I'm not getting my hopes up for any of them. I'll be really excited up until the final. But I have a feeling that Vee really wants RG and Serena wants to defend a slam. So we'll see...

Good Point

I expect RG to be a good one
but i would like, atleast one of them, to have more winners than unforced errors

Venus and Serena having more winners then unforce is hard to do against each. Because they run so many balls down.

Roland Garros, but (regrettably) not this year. I think Venus and Serena both are determined to learn to play on clay. They're both trying to add a little more spin and variety to the mix. I think red clay is the surface where they're both likely to try to get creative, given the speed and power of the opponent. Basically, give them both another year to mix some Justine Henin-Hardenne into their games (not TOO much, Justine's small enough.:))

I think by RG '04, we could see something special.

Or maybe pigs will fly, and Venus will do something about her 2nd serve. In which case, anytime.

Never. Apart from a similarity in styles and a clear advantage for Serena, its impossible to stop the concious or unconcious thought "I am playing my sister" creeping in. "I am stopping Serena winning her Serena slam", "Venus is getting depressed because I keep on beating her" "Oh dear, Venus will be miserable for another three months", "Why is this happening - I was better than she was" or just " I know what you are thinking" or "you always do that" or "do I play to the injury only I know she has?" are all thoughts that can only intervene in a sister v sister contest.

Well, I think Wimbeldon 1st set was the closest we will see to them playing their best. However, I also feel some people will never be satisfied because they are expecting too much.

I for one knew that Serena would win Wimby after her semi with Amelie. I have never seen Rena play like that in a slam against someone of Amelie's caliber. I was shocked, and I knew it would be very hard for the Queen to 3 peat. After the match, I thought this would be the ONE that propelled Vee to work on her serve and take out lil sis in one of the remaining slams, but Serena was resilient.

i really hate how so many people go "when will serena and venus play their best against each other". I mean, what are people expecting when they say that? That they both hit winners off serves, backhands, and forehands? That they have 60 winners each and 0 errors? They have played well against each other and thats what mattered. This year's australian open was actually a much better quality match than what people give it credit for. People don't seem to understand that when you have two players as fast as venus and serena, its impossible to hit that many winners against them while hitting few errors. And plus, long three setters do not mean they play their best, it could be a 6-4, 6-4 match and they could have both played their best. Honestly, when has serena williams and lindsay davenport played their best against each other? When has venus and jenny cap done that? When has kim and serena played their best against each other? NEVER. Its juss annoying when people keep on bringing down venus and serena's matches agaisnt each other and say that its a bad quality match. Let me tell you something, if serena plays the way she did in the first set two weeks ago vs. davenport, and venus plays the way she did against davenport in the acura classic semis last year, it would still be a match where there are more errors than winners, because they will both run down so many balls that eventually someone will be forced to hit an error. I really juss wish that people will stop speculating on when they will play their "best" against each other because for all we know, the "best" could have already happened. We are juss expecting too much.

Very well said, Franny! *applauds* :D :D

I think we might see some really good tennis come this RG...:) Here's to hoping for one! :D

And, go Venus! :D

you know, i enjoyed three (kinda) of the five sister slams, Wimby was good, Aus open was close, and re-watching the USO 02 that was prety brutal play by Serena. its just the first two that failed to live upto the hype.

but with practice comes perfect, and i think we all reckon/know they are gonna get a lot more practice.

the "problem" is they play similarly, and apparently two players playing similarly doesnt make a good match (ie why Venus-Martina matches were so good). and i think with them finding their own personality (ie Serena stop being Venus ;)) their games have evolved in different ways, which makes brilliant reading for the future....

i just cant wait to see what happens at the French this year :D

the australian open final was a good barometer that their matches are getting tighter but as harloo said, some people will never be completely satisfied and that's fine. i'm hoping for a roland garros rematch and a compelling final.

do people ever ask when are Jen and Serena gonna play the best against each other?

the errors usually outnumber the winners in those matches too.

IMO--the more they play against each other, the better the matches will get. I expect that RG will be the best we've seen them play against each other. I also expect that Venus will win. :)
