how these players have progressed with their english...

I just heard Dementieva speak on ESPN and her english is almost flawless...(I remeber seeing her live the last time the Tour Champs were played at the Garden and she beat Linds) and her Enlglish has gotten so much better...same for Justine, Kim, Dani, Momo etc... :worship:

I wonder how many of the English speaking players make the same effort to learn the language of some of their host country...(except for Venus and Serena... :worship: )

Comon, Venus and Serena doesn't speak french if it is what you are refering to. They only know some words.
And the tred in general is that english speaking people doesn't speak other languages because almost everybody speaks english, so it's always easy for them to comunicate wherever they are.

I know, but it's so cute to see them try...they just giggle all the way through... :hearts:

I am sure Venus's Italian is getting better...(in more ways than one)... ;)

But at least they tried. And it was very big of them to learn a little french so they can address the French crowd. Thoes young ladies do everything right. Why don't you just give them credit and stop putting them down each chance you get.

Exactly. :D

They were just so giggly(sp?) at the moment, I'm sure she just mumbled it out. It's not her language, she doesn't travel to many French places, and I'm pretty sure she did pretty well for never speaking the language and practicing it rarely.

Venus, I know, has said she would love to learn at least five languages. I think they were English, French, Russian, German, and I think something like Japanese or Chinese, or maybe it was Spanish. Don't quote me on that though.

At least they're trying.

But, I am really impressed with the non-English players. They do a great job. ;)
