Here is a quote from the fedcup site:

Round Robin - 3 pools of 4 teams, 1 pool of 5 teams
The top four nations will proceed to the World Group Play-Offs in 2003
The bottom five nations are relegated to Group II in 2004

They haven't yet given out the full draw for all teams. I have the Israeli group from an Israeli website.

Pdm1987
Apr 20th, 2003, 07:19 PM
I think that Elena Baltacha & Anne Keothavong can do well for Great Britain in that group.

paul_masterton
Apr 20th, 2003, 08:08 PM
probably the best draw Britain could have gotten.

Hungary will walk it.

Difficult to say whether being in the group of 5 is good or bad, it can work both ways i guess :)

First two teams in each team advance to the quarter-finals (which I think will be played day after the round robin matches) :)

Poland vs Netherlands is a pretty crucial match-up, as i definitely think its between them and GB to get that second spot.

Hopefully Ireland can loose to Hungary and GB, but ebat Poland and Netherlands, that'd be a great help ;)

Pdm1987
Apr 20th, 2003, 09:12 PM
So hopefully if Britain can come 2nd, which I think they can, they advance to the Quarter Finals, great!!

Jakub

2 teams will be relegated from that goup with 5 teams .

POLAND
Great Britain
Hungary
Ireland
The Netherlands

In my opinion it will be Ireland for 90 % and ..... maybe Britain :p

Pdm1987
Apr 20th, 2003, 09:22 PM
Don't be silly....Britain shouldn't be relegated alon with Ireland, I think it'll be The Netherlands or Poland going down with Ireland.
It's going to be close between GB, Poland & Holland, with Holland losing out, perhaps.

And to think Eggy (usually so wise) was telling me that Kaia was going to be the next 'big thing' - and going to win the french open one day!

Well, she seems far beyond that at the moment. Being a good junior does not make you miss it and a bit!

No , I think it's unlikely but the girls are capable of it. It's not as if the prospect of the British girls on clay is going to terrorize the rest of the opponents. I would like GB to qualify though.
