Jennifer Capriati - She can put up a challenge, but not a victory!!??

I dunno why? But the current Jennifer Capriati can only put up a tough challenge to the current Top 5 players, but not a victory over any of them?

I read the other thread talking about Jennifer's lack of game plan, I 100% agree on it!!! But also, her mentality is still a very big factor.

Her comeback in Australian Open 2002 is just simply tremendous, but if you look at the current Top5, there is no Martina Hingis' type of players anymore!! They are all simply aggressive, hard-hitting, powerful and most importantly - mentally strong players!! Jennifer cannot just simply rely on her powerful baseline game to outplay any of these players...

Well, I really dunno.... Jennifer hasn't played Kim and Venus this year yet... But seems to me, it is very difficult for her to score a victory over the other three Top5 players this year!!

Is that really going to be Jennifer's path to the end of her career? I hope not.... But she really has got to work on something new to score a victory, not just to put up a challenge!!!

Yeha she is having problems with victories in 3 setters against top 10ners!

of the top players, Jenny's just one whom you can't see any improvement in her game. She will not have a chance against Kim in case they meet on clay this season. :o

Jennifer just seems to run out of gas in the third set, she needs to regain some fitness, the kind that saw her win THAT final last year.

I think Jen should do something else in addition to tennis find another interest do something different for a change.

I would have to say that Jennifer was definitley on the defense yesterday, and thats the bottom line. Jen is still a great player, not matter what happened today or any tournament. I mean today, and this whole tournament, Lindsay has been just of the hook. I dont think Ive ever seen her play that well,even before the surgery. Its just definitley her week. I do think Jen needs to work on things, like her serve, its just going to be torn up every time she players power hitters. I also dont see her making some of the angle shots she was making back in 2001. Its like yeah, she gets to the balls, her movement is awesome, but she isnt DOING anything with the shots when she gets there. Thats just a trend Ive notcied with her this year. I mean overall since the Assuie Open she's done nothing but improve, and this year is far from over. She'll take some time, HOPEFULLY work on these things and she is still a contender for the French, and all the tournaments after that. I still belive in her, and hope/think she still believes in herself. This was obvioulsy Lindays tournament to win... Not that Jen COULDNT have beaten her but... The girl is simply infaugio.

Davenport is off the hook this week. Jen is playing well, just davey is awesome this week. Jen just needs 1 breakthru win over a top player and she will be on a roll!!!!!
