View Full Version : Dang't Justine, Stop Beating My Faves!

Apr 18th, 2003, 10:35 PM

If you and Venus play in the Berlin SF/F, you better lose 1-6 2-6!!

Anyway, great match by Justine, she was just too good.
I was a bit suprised that she had more winners, and that she had that many aces, but 114 on the line is just too good. I was shocked it wasnt three sets though....Also, I'm dissapointed to note that Monica has put back on the weight she lost over the break. She was much thinner during OZ. While I know she was injured and stuff, its a bit disheartning.

Oh well, you'll get her next time Monica, just keep fighting!

It's ok, Monica did play well (especially in the 2nd set). And Justine's just on fire. Nothing that can be done there. I'm glad to see Monica hit more winners than errors, so that's a plus. If she could have converted on more of her many break points, it would have been much tighter. But, I'm happy w/2 wins despite still not being 100% recovered and being out for what 8-9 weeks?

thats true

but im more dissapointed that after working so hard during the winter season, shes gained the weight back

It's ok, Justine will now listen to your wishes.

I would love for Justine to FINALLY defeat V in a two setter whether it be on clay or grass or hardcourt (which will probably be a really tall order). I think it's just what she needs to get her confidence at a higher level.

me too shap...but I'd like to see her beat Kim AND Venus in the same tourny ;)

Maybe at RG this year. There's no chance Kim and V will both be in the same draw as Justine so she'll be slated to meet one in the semis and the other at finals. I would love to see Justine defeat them both on the way to getting the title

I don't know what match you were watching
mmcdonald, but Monica didn't put on that much weight. Sure maybe a couple of pounds but your making it seem like it was 20.

she looked much thinner to me in OZ than she did out there, but thats just me

Venoose will take care of business on court. :);)

Dream on Shap_half and Rtael :D , Vee will clean her up like old furniture  .

We will see then. ;)

JUJU had 113 and 114 mph serves back to back. And on the line for aces! Followed by a forcing serve drawing the return error. Her serve was unreal!

Apr 19th, 2003, 09:25 AM
Before last month, all you people still argue whether she (Juju) deserve her ranking or not. Including me ;)
And now... she looks danger for top 3!
Go Juju! :bounce: , but please do not win next week... it's Vee's! ;)

LOL. Very witty Jackson.

I would like to see Juju vs. Kim on clay , seeing as how Kim demolishes Juju on other surfaces.

Apr 19th, 2003, 03:26 PM
WTA....I still maintain that most of Kim's dominance over Justine is mental =P

Congratulations to Justine on her win.

Commiseration to my fave Monica but it's not like she got injured or something. Better luck next time :).

Well JuJu lost today to Elena D. This seems to happen VERY often when a player wins a Match vs a Williams. She will slide for a while, and when she meets Serena again don't expect any miracles.

I do have to give Justine credit for winning a very closlly played match in Berlin last year, but her recent win vs Serena was a gift from a rather disinterested Serena.

The new hope will have to win more matches vs other players to be a REAL threat to Venus or Serena.

Keep in mind that the ONLY player to beat a Williams in two or more sucessive matches is SERENA (vs Venus) I will notice when another player accomplishes this feat.

Has Davenport not done that ?

Apr 19th, 2003, 11:59 PM
actually, V and Rena have yet to lose (in a completed match) to the same person in 1 year since 2001, and Venus since 1999 i think

Justine played a strange match today. I think she didn't really think Elena is someone to worry about and she just didn't play smart tennis.

Anyway, Berlin is in a couple of weeks and Justine will either meet Venus in the semis or Kim in the semis depending on where they stick Venus. I would love for ESPN to cover this match although i doutb they will. But I would love for Justine to defeat both players and win this title twice in a row over both Kim and Venus!! It should be sweet!
