Interesting coincidence how Serena has had two lengthy winning streaks in the past year, and both have ended at exactly 21 matches.

Hmm, is that why Serena withdrew from Berlin? Is she anticipating another 21-match streak which would take her through Rome, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and to the LA quarters (like last year), whereas if she played Berlin, a 21-match streak would expire in the Wimbledon quarters. </conspiracy> :)

LOL well observed :)

i hope she manages to defend the titles up to post wimby, where its one of those rare cases where she can gain :D (QF LA, pulled out of Montreal)

yes another 21 match streak would do me just fine if it starts at Rome :D

Serena can only have 21 straight matches?
thats faar from the other number ones, im suprised maybe its cause she doesnt play that much

if the person who holds 4 slams isnt at number one then i think something is very wrong with the system LOL!

and in the past52 weeks shes only lost b4 the finals 1ce :)

no im just suprised thats all

i know V won 35 straight
Monica has won 37 straight 3 times
Martina won 38 straight
Steffi won 66 straight
Martina N. won 74 straight

oh well, according to Serena she has yet to play anyhwhere near her best (and i agree) so maybe thats why

this day and age i dont think u r gonna get ppl even getting to Venus' long run :)

the streak felt alot longer than 21 matches :(

do u remember the streak in 2000 4 Venus it seemed to go on forever then Linzi ruined it in 3 in Linz lol :)

i dont think Venus picked up a racquet again competitively till the AO....

yeah Venus' run didnt last long enough
Venus had 19 striaght last year, was just a couple of wins short from Serena's

(It should have been 34 straight but thats ok)

I'm just wondering why was the Olympics (an itf event) counted in Venus's winning streak but the Hopman Cup can't be counted in Serena's winning streak?

Streak or not streak. Serena has been on fire the past 12 months! 12 finals in 13 tournaments and 9 titles( including 4 straight GS's!!) during the span is a MEAN thing to do!!
