Just out of curiosity if a player withdraws before a match begins, does the winner get bonus points? Cause I remember someone saying after Kim's semi in LA that she got bonus points as Venus started the match but had she not Kim wouldn't of got the bonus points?

Can someone explain that to me please?

Thanks

If they withdraw without one point being played, then NO BONUS POINTS.

If they play, but one retires within the match, even after only one point, BONUS POINTS YOU GET.

No, Justine won't get any bonus points. If Clarisa had come out and played 1 point and retired Justine would have gotten bonus points.

Well a few good things came out this:

1. Justine is guaranteed to be in her 6th consecutive QF match.

2. She is on her way to winning her 2nd consecutive title the easy way without getting too tired.

3. We are 1/2 way guaranteed to see a great Henin-Hardenne - Seles clay court match!!!

You're wrong shap_half. This will be Henin-Hardenne's 10th consecutive quarterfinal (or better) appearance.

2002 Zurich (SF)
Linz (Champion)
WTA Championships (QF)
2003 Sydney (SF)
Australian Open (SF)
Antwerp (SF)
Dubai (Champion)
Miami (QF)
Charleston (Champion)
Amelia Island (???)

Note: Since the end of the U.S. Open, Henin-Hardenne, with three wins, is tied for third in terms of WTA Tour titles won (with Anastasia Myskina, who won Bahia, Doha, and Sarasota). Serena Williams (Princess Cup, Leipzig, Melbourne, Paris Indoors, and Nasdaq-100) and Kim Clijsters (Filderstadt, Luxembourg, WTA Championships, Sydney, and Indian Wells) are tied for first with five each. For those of you who are curious, Venus Williams (Antwerp) and Lindsay Davenport (Pan Pacific Open) have one each. None of the other current top ten players have won a title since Toronto last year (Mauresmo won there). I just thought that was interesting.

You're a true encyclopaedia, Caseyl45 :) Justine's stats are very impressive indeed.

I am sorry for Clarissa though. I hope she'll get better soon.

get better clarissa! You'll be there at RG!

I am a bit (tiny little bit) happy that justine doesn't have to play, that she can get some rest in tough schedule...
