View Full Version : Venus now Thinking..........

But I think Serena has helped and motivated her just a little more.

Seeing that Serena really could use a break, and pulling out of Berlin really wouldn't hurt her ranking, I think Serena realized that Venus needs to get back into a little more action, and should replace her in Berlin. When hamburg points come off, Venus will be number 2 again, and following Warsaw, she will still be number 2. Going into berlin she will be number 2, but Kim orginally being the only 1 in here and not Venus, had a shot of getting that Number 2 back (i believe if she made the finals or won it) But its good now to See that Venus has picked up Berlin Also, I think Serena wanted her big Sister back at number 2, she knows she lost it b/c of not playing Amelie Island, and she is helping her to get it back. The sisters are always helping eachother out. But as of late, its really ben all Serena helping Venus get motivated. But with Venus and Kim now in Berlin, Venus is making it more so kim's first time in having to actually perform well and get that ranking. Its not going to be given to her. But also, with Venus playing Berlin, and if she does well like win J&S, Venus will only need like the Quarters in Berlin I believe to keep her number 2 ranking. And I hope she does play in Rome, its all good match preparation. Last year venus played Amelie Island, Hamubrg, and planned on Rome. Three tournies. I think J&S, Berlin, and Rome and just as good, and they are better tournies and more points. I hope she enters all three. Venus did have points to defend, but now adding 2 tier 1 tourneis, where she has no points to defend. She is for sure getting back that number 2 ranking. And going into the French, i think for sure we will see around a at least a 400 point gap from Venus.

Hopefully she won't withdraw from Rome (citing exhaustion) ...

GO VENUS ... the hat trick is yours; Warsaw-Berlin-Rome:)

Go on Vee with your bad self!

I'm just happy that Vee is coming out from seclusion. I have never seen her play this less, but it's her choice. Hope she plays all the remaining tier I's leading up to the French. I think she needs the practice, because I don't think I can take another suprise. Hopefully that won't happen. Good she is getting back into the thick of things.

Berlin is after Warsaw.;)

Apr 17th, 2003, 12:15 AM
then i think she did it to put more distance between herself and Kim going into Berlin :)

maybe to save herself for the French, if its impossible for Kim to catch up with her, she wont play Rome??:)

I will happily settle for just Paris and London.

Venus should only play as much as is necessary to ensure that she and Serena are in opposite sides of the draw at the French.

The French is the only clay court tourney that matters.

:worship: Another Sister Slam is the primary focus in the big picture (tennis history not silly computer points).:worship:

Venus wearing herself out or getting injured before the French would just be "quite silly really".

Not trying to insult fans of the other tournaments, but she's got to keep her "eye on the real prize".

You are kidding yourself if you think Kim won't be #2 by the French Open. After the French Open, Venus won't even be close.

Apr 17th, 2003, 12:29 AM
shes #2 at the moment so thats a stupid thing to say

Kim is a great player but please no more Hingis rankings. Kim has no grand slam finals on the computer so Venus deserves the #2 spot.

Actaully Venus hopefully will be #1 soon. :D

So let me get this straight. Venus is playing the Fed Cup (two weekend matches), and then going to Warsaw, then Berlin, then Rome, all in consecutive weeks? And then she gets one week off before Roland Garros? That means she's playing in five out of six weeks! Does anyone know if she's ever done this before?

Well Mr tennis Know it all, Venus regains #2 on May 5th(after her Hamburgh finalist points drop off and after she's played Warsaw). Meanwhile Kim has a few points coming off from last years Berlin and semi points from the Italian open. Venus did not play either last year, so she can only gain . Kim will have to win both Berlin and thr Italian to get back ahead of Venus before Roland Garros. Do the Math :P

yeah she has, she just hasnt done this recently

also this is a very good prep for the french
V needs all the practice she can get on the red stuff

and if Venus doesnt pick up a racket till Paris, she'll still be #2 oo00oo
Kim has points to defend, V doesnt

Did you just emerge from your little Chucky Cave when you heard about Henin's good fortune? :p

Talk about "kidding yourself", you've been kidding yourself as long as I've been reading these boards. :p

Although I think you did have 3 or 4 posts that actually made sense following our girl Hingis' hasty departure from the 2002 US Open. I thought there might finally be some hope for you...

:devil:Those Sister Slams must really really really really really hurt.

I'm sure you have lots of Chucky cassettes in your Chucky Cave so I dedicate this song to you...

How about Venus decided for herself instead of Serena deciding to help her sister out (not saying that isn't a possiblity).

Apr 17th, 2003, 08:31 AM
A 400 point gap? Where would Venus find those points?

Venus did decide this for herself. Venus is the strong one imho. Serena withdrew to chill out, and become fresh for another match run, and Venus thought, hey let me get my butt in gear and get back to #2.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Venus SEES that Kim is now #2.

The one doing the match up on here is VENUS WILLIAMS!

FIVE Zeros you need to look at the rankings. The way I see it, Venus is looking good for 2004. Not much to defend NEXT year, which I am so sure Venus Williams is also aware of. So if she chooses she'll add a few tourneys to place herself in a good postition.

Venus do your best, I know you're working on your business, it's your passion. So just do your best and have fun.:)

#2 RG seed here she comes!:)
