Hi,

Anna Kournikova enters an ITF women's circuit event for the first time since 1996. Read the report on TeamWTA for news. (http://www.sportnetwork.net/main/s133/st23343.htm)

Also take a look at the new TeamWTA.com Players Photo Gallery (http://www.sportnetwork.net/main/s133/st22803.htm) New tournament photo's have been added.

Well she is injured, I think its best that she rests rather then play.

Well, to a minor extent, this too...

I doubt that Anna is resting. I think she is more likely following Enrique around very closely to keep an eye on him. He is not the kind of boyfriend that a girl dares to let out on his own too much! ;)

So don't listen, I don't care. But Wertheim said she was seen backstage at a concert with EI just last week. Sometimes the truth hurts! :o

Anna wil start to play much better once this relationship ends. Mark my words.

Yeah. But nobody wants to see Anna lose more than you do, Janie. It's like some sort of obesssion with you.

Brutalize a player when she's up, but kick her when she's down? That's cheap.

LOL! Anna K. figures in under 5% of my posts here. Proably more like 0.25%. So I would not call that an obsession. :p

Nor would I describe as "brutal" a remark that Anna will play better when she dumps her bf. In fact I would characterize that comment as a positive one. But I guess you see "brutality" because that is what you are looking for. ;)

What starr means is that every time there is a thread about Anna, what do you know! Janie is there to talk crap about her. It is sort of like an obsession, IMO.

But the way you talk senseless shit about Anna, like you think you're being funny, just plain disgusts me. I can only roll my eyes when I see a post by you now. And btw : since when is Wertheim the one who decides what is true or not? I wouldn't be surprised if he was just making it up for an interesting story.

Even if he was right, think about this - Anna has a life, she doesn't have to live on tennis 24/7. Just because's she's injured doesn't mean she's going to sit at home propped up in bed all day.

kournikovafan13,

It is absolutely untrue that I post in every thread about Anna. In fact, I rarely do so. I invite you to look at every recent Anna thread, then please find all my posts you claim are there.

Get your facts straight before you go on the attack.

BTW, if you don't think a player's romantic relationships affect her tennis, that is more than a little bit naive. HOW a relationship affects a given player is open to speculation. And speculation of this sort is exactly what a message board is for.

Sorry you don't like what I am speculating here, but we will see what happens when Anna moves on from Enrique. Then if she still plays just as bad, feel free to let me know how wrong I was. ;)

Anyway, enjoy the eye-rolling! It is probably good exercise for the eye muscles. :D

By the way Janie, I agree that Anna would probably have better results if she dumped Enrique. Maybe, maybe not, but probably.

But you said that Anna withdrew purely to "follow" Enrique around, which is bullshit.

Another thing - I actually did check, and before this thread, during today and yesterday, you've posted four times in Anna threads. Two different ones. Then this one. And there aren't that many Anna threads nowadays.

Okay, kournikovafan13, it turns out we are actually in agreement here. :hearts:

Because, if you read my post again, you will see that what I said was that Anna was probably following her bf around rather than resting -- but I NEVER said that she withdrew SO she could follow him. Nor is that what I meant, or I would have said it right out.

Hey, if I were an injured player who had a bf with a wandering eye, you can be sure I'd be out there following him around, too!

For once I dsagree with you Janie. I don't think Enrique has a hill of beans to do with Anna's on court performances. No excuses for Anna. Anna was playing pretty bad before Enrique.

When she trains better stops letting the tourneys give her WC and builds of her cofidence thru qualifying and or ITF events then she'll get better. Oh and see a sports psyche and hire a personal trainer I forgot about those two things.

Before Anna came around the tourneys were doing find in ticket sales. Anna does not have to get a WC to help them out. She doesn't need the money so why not try a different route and win some matches instead of playing in first round losses?

She's still young and there is time.

Janie likes to take potshots at Anna in sidelong ways so that she always has a way to back out. Now she is saying that hey.. I didn't say she "withdrew SO she could follow him." Bullshit hairsplitting is all that is.

First someone said that Anna withdrew so she could rest. Then Janie posted this: "I doubt that Anna is resting. I think she is more likely following Enrique around very closely to keep an eye on him." Implying strongly that what was keeping Anna occupied was Enrique and not her health or her tennis.

Then she went on to be snide about Enrique.

What is it about Janie that makes her have a steaming hatred for Anna, take potshots at her, and not have the guts to stand by her guns?

It's the diningenuous bullcrap that just steams me. Does Janie think that people can't see that her posts about Anna just drip with venom? It's SO obvious.

Nah..... I didn't say you were brutalizing Anna... REALLY, Janie. You are so careful to parse your posts to prove that you didn't mean what you actually did mean. I said.. Brutalize a player when she's up, don't kick her when she's down. Anna clearly isn't up, so the plain meaning of the the post is that you are kicking Anna when she is down. And it's cheap, and tiresome.

OK Janie is not obsessed w/Anna, nor does she kick her when she is down, so leave her alone!

Anna is not playing the challenger because she is injured! Not because she dosen't care, not because she'd rather give Enrique head, but because she can't perform at her best. If she's going to go down to a 75K, a GUTSY move on her part, she damn well better be healthy and ready to go. Can you imagine the headlines in newspapers, websites, and threads on this board if she went to Dothan injured and fell in straight sets to somebody like Jessica Lehnoff? She'd never live it down! It's one thing to lose to Husarova or Safina, but it's an entirely different matter to lose to a sub 200 player. Would we start a count for every ITF tournament she loses like we did back in 2000 for when we made fun of her for not winnning WTA tournaments? Every interview (and I mean EVERY ONE) would involve a question about her 1st round loss at a 75K. She'll play a challenger or WTA qualifying when she is healthy and can do well. I'm not an Anna fan and I think she is a waste of talent, but geez you guys go a bit far w/her sometimes

On a completely different topic, don't you think that Anna would be a little less all-the-time-injured if she put on some weight, and especially some muscle. She's pretty slender.

Janie is fine! She does speak alot of truth. I find her to be rather honest.

Really we don't really know. Anna may just be chillin with Enrique following him around. I sure don't see him at her tourneys much. Also nobody knows for sure if Anna, injured or not was even going to play that challenger either.

When is the next challenger? Anna should enter that one.

Well said starr, spot on with your comments regarding janie, don't think I need to add anymore, I would like to but I won't, it isn't worth the effort replying to the drivel that comes from her in regards to Anna..

As for Wertheim comments, he mentioned it last week did he?
Wouldn't want to mislead anyone with your incorrect info would you Janie , I recently remember you saying that everything you say is based on facts (yeah right  ).. so just where did he say last week??

reports seeing Anna Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias backstage at a recent Bon Jovi show in Fort Lauderdale

Ah recent, how about trying Friday the 14th March, as we are currently the 16th April, that doesn't seem to be last week does it??

Your attempts to put Anna down are pathetic.

Was she? she has been seeing him since Feb last year, just when her poor form started, coincidence? perhaps, I have always said someone private life is just that, private and I don't judge anyone one who they might or might not be seeing as long as it doesn't effect there preparation etc and I am yet to see this with Anna.

That's it is it? trains better  Its good to see that someone that sits behind a computer screen can tell if someone is training correctly, I think her coach is the best judge of that and since he is still there, she must be training correctly or should I say doing everything Harold expects of her.

As for getting all these WC's I notice you haven't mentioned anything about Tokyo, Memphis, Indian Wells and Amelia island all tournaments in which Anna had direct entry into, but was unable to play due to injury, it just seems to be some people hobby horse to have a cry everytime Anna is given a WC. The girl has played 5 tournaments since the end of September 2002, she aren't going to be playing her 6th event until either the end of April or early May, the WC she recieved was only her 2nd of the year, but for some reason some people love to give the impression that she only has played an event because she was given a WC, she did end 2002 at #35 and if not for injury at the end of the year would have more than likely been in the 20's and 2002 was her worst season by far.

I always read that the WC's should be given to people who are more deserving, I wonder which players these are? noone has ever listed a player who is more deserving, but they don't hesitate to whine when Anna is given one.
I suppose when she receives a WC for Rome and Eastbourne and what ever other tournament she plays in the coming mths there will be a new thread created so people can have a whine again.
Oh well whatever

BTW she does have a personal fitness trainer
