Hello there,

How are you? Sorry it's been a couple of days to respond, but I'm just getting ready for a tournament in Amelia Island next week. Actually I'm already there. Not the most exciting place but it's on the beach so it's nice. You probably never want to see sand again after being over there right? :) and wow, your living space is really small! But at least you get to put your stuff in there and it doesn't look that bad, kinda cozy.
How hot has it been getting over there? Do you like flying at night or day better? Do you guys even fly at all during the day? It's really incredible whats happening over there but I'm sure you don't want to always talk about it. Just like me and tennis. Sometimes it feels like 24/7 so its nice to take a break and not talk about work all the time. But speaking of work, I have to go practice now. I just wanted to write a quick hello. I will definitely write more later.

Take care of yourself and be well. Thanks for all the pics. I will try to get you some to send. I love the one of you and your dog in the jet. That's awesome. He is adorable.

Bye for now,

jen :)

That's interesting.

How is it that people are getting a hold of these e-mails? I saw one with A-Rod but I did not read it.

See? I told you all she was a sweetie underneath it all.

Jen, if you'd like to email me...I still love you!

Jen loves you to BJK-it's just, what-we'll call it "tough love". Yeah-that's the word

Thank you for that. I'm sure she does love me...after all, she's too wonderful to hate anyone and has so much love in her (as Xav well knows), but I just wish she'd love me the way I love her.

Hope springs eternal Billie. Teach her to serve so she wins a Wimby and Jen-Jen will be your oyster! Just get your bahoolas in gear dear.

What a charming message from Jennifer. I've always thought she was a delightful young lady and this is just further proof of that.

One time French Open champions truly are the best people in the world.

Can i just run something by you all?

This is a war.

Apparently, the American military sees it as a wonderful chance to exchange letters between "jocks and GIs". What a feel-good thing to do, huh? Now let me ask you ....

do you think the Iraqi soldiers have penpals? Think they're exchanging letters with Meryl Streep or derek Jeter? No, I don't. Perhaps because they're dying and fighting the whole time. Maybe because they are treating this as a war. Maybe because they don't seek to make entertainment out of something that should never be entertainment. Perhaps because they are taking this war seriously, maybe they actually grasp the consequences of it.

Maybe instead of having their soldiers write nice, fluffy letters to sports stars they should have them find bin Laden, or root out Saddam, get supplies to starving Iraqis, i don't know. Seems like there should be something better to do than a publicity stunt.

With all due respect, this is the equivalent of Bob Hope and Betty Grable doing USO tours. It's to cheer the troops up and show an interaction between the athletes and the troops. I for have much enjoyed reading the emails from various different sports.

I don't think 20 GIs exchanging emails is going to stop the military from doing it's job. Seriously.

I'm aware of that, but it's the principle that I'm objecting to.

Is that a real email? The unit is valid but its a very odd note to a young lady who is dodging missiles over Iraq in her F15E. "Do you enjoy flying more at Night?" "Yes dear because the 10000 Iraqi anti-aircraft gun crews can't see me and kill me if they can't see me........."

There is more from Jenn, I think at least 3 letters back and forth and others on espn.com/tennis. Way to go Jenn! Everyone should support our troops like Jenn!

What I find funny is that when I read the letter I thought it had to be fake because I found it a bit shallow, and non-empthatic toward people fighting the war.

This is a real letter!! So I am like wtf was she thinking? This cannot be a real letter from her.. it can't be!!

She speaks of the beaches here in america and all that sand over there! wtf? Wow, "living space really small". Ok that was a real sensitive thing to write. They are in a WAR! wtf? "Do you like flying at night or day better"? What the hell does she think this is the US open?

This is a dumb letter to write to people who are facing a War.
