Do you think Elena Dementieva wins a tournament this year?

It depends, she could easily win a tier 5 but then stepping down that low would not benefit her career, I think she has the ability to win a tier 2 or 3 definatly, but it really depends on her mental strenght. She has proved that she can beat the best when the pressure is off, but can she do it in a final.

I really wish she would... so, it won't happen. Alyona will be a virgin all her tennis life.

This year? No.

Were I her, I'd play the Tier V, play it SERIOUSLY, not like I'm a diva, win it, and get the monkey off her back. Then go win a Tier IV. Then a Tier III. Nice and orderly. There's more to winning than you know til you do it, in any sport.

i wouldnt got that extreme and downplay Tier V.......
unless Pattaya............
if i were her, i would be playing weak Tier I like Pan Pacific which she did,
or weak Tier II Bahai last yr where she could be seeded 3rd,

i would rather enter Tier I Tier II MD with direct entry
than to be seeded in Tier V.........
we have to remember that Dementieva's 1st big push
is to make US Open SF without being seeded,
so playing Tier II event without being seeded
is alway better than being seeded and play Tier V.
usually a Tier IV, V are scheduled beside big events,
i wouldnt do that, coz that would show my lack of confidense,
events like Sarasota is good coz that's a low tier
without being scheduled beside big events,
she is gonna win that kinda events,
but probably not anything Tier II+

I think she'll beat Henin and Davenport back to back in a few days but that could just be me. http://i13.tinypic.com/530bgci.jpg

If she plays doubles: 90% chance
If she just plays singles, but plays some Tier III and Tier IVs: 70% chance
If she just plays singles, and her normal schedule: 50% chance

:o at people not seeing the original date for this thread. She's got two titles in a season for two straight seasons, it's only logical she'll get at least one more in 2008, preferably the one in my avatar. ;)

i think dementieva's ready for one more slam run ... i'd love to see her pop into the top 10 once again. I doubt Bartlio (sp) will defend her wimbledon final. and Dementieva has a lot of points to make up aka Miami and Indian Wells! (i think she was a semifinalist and a finalist in those events in 2006 so those are definitely big pluses! she might get a nice break)
