Here are my nominations...

Uncle Tobys hardcourt classic! It sound like Toby makes his own little tournament every year.

Proximus Diamond Games > Sound like a drag queen convention.

Dubai Duty Free > Held in the sky on numerous clouds.

Family Circle Cup > What next, the Good Houskeeping Classic, Womans Own Open???

DFS Classic> DFS DFS DFS!!!

Pilot Pen > ???

Polo Open > Porche Tennis Grandprix, Acura Classic, JP Morgan Chase Presented by Audi, and then the POLO Open, doesnt really go does it.

Volvo Open > same as above.

I know what Uncle Tobys is, but still it sound like a daft name for a tournament. Would you have the McDonnald Classic or the BK Open?

I'm sorry, but "Volvo Open" just sounds pornographic. So it gets my vote.

Although I almost voted "Other" for the Nasdaq-100. That one just sounds odd to me.

The "bell Challenge" sounds funny to me.

It seems as if the women are trying to win a bell.

One of the weirdest was the Madrid 2012 Spanish Open. It took me a while to figure out that "Madrid 2012" referred to the team of people trying to get the Olympics in Madrid. Before that, I couldn't understand why they were playing a tournament 10 years early.

Not funny, just bad

No it's got to be Roland Garros. No average person has any idea what that is... at least not in the U.S. It shoud be the FRENCH OPEN 'cause that's what it is. It's bad for publicity to name it RG.

Sam L
Apr 15th, 2003, 03:48 AM
Well none of them.

But about 10 years ago there used to be a tournament called "Light and Lively Championships" held in Wesley Chapel, Florida. They didn't allow Lindsay to play there ;)

How would they say it anyway? "I'm going to the Melbourne Park Open"? No one says that! Everyone just says "AO" or "Aussie Open" - and how do you say "Queens" too? I never heard anyone talk about the "QUeens Open"!
