Well i've played on three

Hard outdoor,Hard indoor and clay

i've probably played 99% of my tennis on outdoor hard but i've played a good few matches indoor and would say that surfaces favurs me cos its quicker.I only played on clay for about 15 mins 5 years ago and don't really remember it.

So what have you played on?

I have played on carpet indoor, red clay and outdoor Hardcourt. I prefer outdoor Hardcourt because carpet indoor is too fast and I'm not used to playing on clay enough.

Grass: fake/synthetic and real
Hardcourt: cement, plexipave, rebound ace etc.
Indoor: fake grass
Clay: en tout cas (crushed brick)

My fave surface: real grass cos my slice stays low and im impatient on most days.

I never played indoors... I played on red clay, hardcourts, grass & carpet. I really loved the clay. Most of the time i suck at long rallies cuz i'm impatient, but when you get into the match with a "i'm just gonna play for fun" attitude, clay is really great... I played on hardcourts most of my life & i hate them, they're shit for my knees

indoor :hard and carpet
outdoor: hard, red clay, green clay, and real grass
the missing links: rebound ace (has anyone played on that) and this "fake grass"... although i would imagine playing on real grass is even better... unless u have bad allergies!!!

M_pIeRcE14, yes that is synthetic grass. i hate that stuff because when you slide on it or you get low to hit the ball you cut your knee's but that's what i play on the most.

alex i played on real grass down at Wodonga(Albury) for the first time a few weeks ago. What was i doing down in the middle of woop-woop? Its a long car trip to melb so me and my m8s needed a break and stopped there to see some of that tournament etc...

So how does everyone judge the surfaces?

Whats your fav and why?

Gowza
Apr 15th, 2003, 09:44 AM
i prefer synthetic grass to anything. it was hard to get use to at first because i use to slip everytime i tried to run down a ball but now i'm a bit more use to it. outdoor hardcourt is good if i want to play with less unforced errors because i find it easier to run balls down (no slipping). i found on rebound ace the ball got a bit to high for me but i only played on it once but i want to play on it more because i need more practice with that sort of thing. grass i didn't lik much because the ball of the bounce was unpredictable but it is good because you learn to improvise with your shots.

i guess at this stage i am fairly new to the game so i kind of base things on what i can learn from each different type of surface. i wish i could play more on all of them.

for now i have to say synthetic grass is my fav surface but that is basically on i play on. i play a lot less on outdoor hardcourt which i use to always play on before i started playing comps but all the comps around my place are on synthetic grass.

i've played on clay (twice), hardcourt (numerous times, too many to count), grass (about 20-30 times), and astroturf. I've never played indoors.

monica has played on all surfaces.

I prefer hardcourts best, they give you a clean bounce, and they probably suit my game best. Carpet is a bit too skiddy for me, and I don't mind clay but I just haven't played on it enough times to really learn the best technique on it for it to suit my game better than hardcourts. :)
