Alex, I hope so! ;) Without Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario Spain is not the same. And I am a big fan of Alicia Molik! Hope, she can do well! :worship:

In Spain... I'm sure Conchita will give her best and will win both her matches... but anyways I don't see other Aussie winning that is not Alicia :s I think Spain will win 3-2 4-1.

Martinez, Serna, Marrero...

I really think the aussies will win and I;m not just saying that cos I am an aussie but I really think they will, Alicia is playing great and will probably win both her matches, Nicole coule pull off a win and the doubles will be very even with Ruano Pascual and Stubbs. Also don't forget Stosur could be the key player for the aussies after she beat Martinez at AO

GO AUSSSIES :bounce:

Since Magui Serna just won Estoril so, the tie will be even!

Apr 14th, 2003, 07:10 AM
No, I still give favoritism to Spain, but I'm confident we can spring an upset :D

Apr 14th, 2003, 12:27 PM
Vamos chicas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im sure Spain will win

Apr 14th, 2003, 01:00 PM
Serna is playing just great, Conchi in Spain won't lose.
Vivi is the best doubles partner for Conchi, in case of playing a decisive doubles match it'll be for Spain

Vamos chicas! :wavey:

this is clay.......and Magui is in her form for sure,
singles are probably played b/w
Spain: Martinez, Magui,
Aussie: Alicia, Nicole
Nicole has done too well on clay, and
she hasnt played any clay event yet,
while though Molik can beat Martinez on clay,
but u sure she is "fast" enough to trade strokes with Magui?
probably not, and Ranee doesnt have Lisa,
which means.........well, you know what that means.....

so good luck Aussie,
i'm just seeing a lot of teams
are gonna upgraded to World Group next yr...
isnt that great....:)

Serna and Conchita are a strong team...Alicia is the only player on the aussie team who can do damage...EVIE?? SHE SUCKS!

Go Oz!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Apr 22nd, 2003, 04:20 AM
Evie doesn't suck, I'd like to see you take her on ;) Oh and by the way she wasn't selected, they went with Stosur as the 4th player seeing as she beat Martinez at Ao

ANd I am still thinking the Aussies will win even after Serna beat Molik, ALicia has seen her game now and knows waht to expect, I see Molik winning both her matches and Nicole winning one match. The Spanish should win the doubles as Stubbs is realy sliding down the ranks without Lisa.

Apr 22nd, 2003, 06:42 AM

Serna def Pratt
Molik def Martienz
Spain wins doubles
Molik def Serna
Martienz def Pratt

So 3-2 to Spain :(

Apr 22nd, 2003, 06:34 PM
Vamos España!!

Yo creo que las nuestras Win 4-1

I also feeling that Alicia will revenge over Magui this weekend as well. So, Alicia will wins both matches. I don't sure how Nicole going against Conchita... depends on how form for Conchita.

Doubles... I really hope Alicia and Rennae in Doubles instead Samantha  So, it's must toughest tie in any opening round of 2003.

What's with everyone writing off Nicole Pratt lately? Alicia's been doing really well lately and I commend her for that, but Nicole is no rubber ducky.

The way some of you write it's like she is a lost cause. Respect.

Apr 24th, 2003, 12:41 AM
Do I need to remind everyone that Nicole Pratt beat Serna at the French Open last year!!!!!!!

And Nicole has played on clay this year in Charleston and Amelia Island, both green clay I know but similar!

Serna is in good form but must be tired, lucky for her she's had a few days to recover a bit after 2 consecutive wins.

I still feel that Alicia will be able to get revenge. I still think Martinez is a concern for Spain, her form isn't anything to get excited by.

Its definitely going to be a tight tie and the doubles probably will decide it!

I know one thing for sure, Stosur ain't gonna get a run unless its a dead rubber!

Go Aussies!
