Can I get a 'YEAH'?

How about a 'yeah, right'?

Okay now check this out

1st round Matevzic, Maja
2nd round Jelena Dokic
3rd round Elena Dementieva

Ya gotta admit, those are three very winnable matches, especially withthe change of surfaces. Assuming Maria can play on Green Clay.

Mmm maybe.

Maja could be outhit, but she is a tricky one and could really trouble the inexperienced youngster.

Against Jelena, she does have a chance, as Jelena is in a BIG slump and just isn't doing anything about it, it seems. Won't be able to outpower Maria.

Against Elena is a ? It depends on which Elena comes out to play. If she is totally off, Maria could take advantage, plus I find the Russia factor and the fact that Dementieva also is powerful and has won a few matches on green clay a combination too much for Maria.

I say Dementieva to the QFs vs Serena :)

I dont think she will make it. Her game isnt good enough yet and shes too inconsistent.

I'm confused.. Isn't it Elena Bovina instead of Dementieva??

Capriati withdrew allowing Stevenson to be seeded and other players moved. Dementieva got moved here.

I think Jelena can beat Maria. It's up to her really.

Well Maria is out.

So who is your pick now to reach QFs Volcana. Dementieva just defeated Iroda 6-2 6-2, if that helps :)

Maria tried very, very hard - but, as an earlier poster mentioned, Maja was "tricky". Maria reminds me a bit of a younger Dokic - tremendous instinct, intensity, and fire. Maria is very, very good now - yet there are many aspects of her game which can (and probably will) improve. Even now, she's fantastic fun to watch!

Jelena may be slumping, but I saw her practicing and she seemed very happy and having fun - that was GREAT to see! When I first saw her, years ago, I felt she could be the best ever - maybe she still can be.... (But happy and fun is most important.)

Dementieva was tough+++. She may make a march.

And the real steam-roller this week may be Clarissa Fernandez - like Maria, she is very impressive, yet with only about 1/2 a full game of skills.

Thanks Gary. :)

I'm glad Jelena is having fun and is happy. That's the most important thing. :D I certainly hope she can be the best! :)
