Hey everyone :)

Just wanted to make a post to ask anyone if they knew where Romana Tedjakusuma was at? I haven't seen her name around in ages, and have been disappointed not to see her as she was really starting to move back up the rankings again.

Also, is Miho Saeki injured??? She hasn't played yet this year, and I hope that she will be back soon because she has the potential to be ranked higher than her current ranking :)

Last but not least is Na Li coming back anytime soon? Last I heard she was injured I think, but she just has so much potential going for her that it's a real shame she's been unable to make the most of it so far in her career. I hope to see her back in the foreseeable future.

Thanks :)

Randy H...I can only answer about Romana Tedjakusuma...She has retired from tennis professionally and she has graduated from a private university in Lamoni, Louisiana, USA and she brought along her parents from Surabaya to move to Louisiana as permanent residents!

Romana's best performance was at AO but I do not remember what year, maybe 1992 or 93...She reached 3rd round if I am not mistaken and her highest WTA ranking was in the 80s...I remember I watched her final on Jakarta 50K when she lost to South African player who has already gone quickly, too! Last time, Romana played for Indonesia at South East Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2001!

IMO, she was not a great player but she was basically returning the ball and she had no weapon at all, just playing safe! But after all, thanks for her contribution to Indonesia! Have a great living in USA, Romana! Surely, Indonesia misses you!

Romana reached the 3rd rd in 1994. What a pity, because she was making huge strides in 2001 before she got injured.

Randy,
Miho Saeki has been injured (right elbow) since end of last year. She was supposed to be playing a $25K Challenger in Spain a couple of weeks ago and Casablanca this week, but withdrew. :( I just hope she comes back soon.

Na had been having health problems last year, and although I can't confirm it, there have been talks of her getting married. What a major waste of talent if she doesn't return to Pro Tennis. :fiery:

For Li Na, it is a mix of everything : health problems, changes in her personal life :) and maybe some disagreement with the CTA on a few issues, for which I don't have any further details.

To my knowledge, very few chances she comes back to tennis. I always ask about it though when I see a Chinese coach ;) .

Great. Nothing wrong with being persistent. :p

I still have some hope that she'll come back some day. :)

I would like more precisely to know what exactly is going on because there are so many rumors, even within Chinese team  .

thanks very much for all the information provided :)

what a shame Romana called it quits. It comes as a surprise because she was in such good form before she just disappeared. Hopefully she has no regrets though and is enjoying life in the US with her family :)

also a shame about Na - I too hope that eventually she will come back, but I have my doubts considering her past. The injuries, the anxieties that held her back from the full-time travel, etc. Maybe when she is a bit older and more mature she will consider taking on the tour again, hopefully it won't be too late for her :)

Randy

ps: come back soon Miho! ;)

Lol, very typical.

Interesting topic because I've noticed that many players just leave the tour quietly including the Asian players. I don't think I ever heard official retirement declarations from Yuka Yoshida, Jing-Qian Yi, Kyoko Nagatsuka and Yone Kamio.

Aaron I agree about it being typical of the CTA but let's be nice. ;)

Yuka Yoshida is still on the tour  . Unless she retired with Chin-Bee :p .

Waiting now for Yuka to post something here ;)

Though this year's Fed Cup Kazakhstan team didn't play very well but do you remember there's a not bad player called Irina Selyutina? Why didn't she attend this year's qualifing?
