View Full Version : belgian time of play?

Jan 14th, 2002, 01:57 PM
Hi, I wonder what the belgian time of play is for Kim's, Justine's and Xavier's matches. Can someone give me the time-difference between Brussels and Melborne? And will any belgian channel broadcast? I really hope so!

I wanna know the answers to all these questions too! I'm afraid they're not gonna broadcast the matches live on VRT though

We have 10 hours of difference with Melbourne.. so just check the schedule when they play and you'll know :D

Rod Laver Arena 7:00 PM
K.Clijsters(BEL)[4] vs. C.Wheeler(AUS)

Vodafone Arena 11:00 AM
A.Kournikova(RUS) vs. J.Henin(BEL)[6]

Court 16 - 10:00AM start

1. Men's Singles - 1st Rnd.
Xavier Malisse (BEL)[29] vs. Tomas Behrend (GER)

I don't know if the Belgian channels are broadcasting any matches

just checked: Canvas broadcasts Kim-Wheeler:
9.00 am Belgian Time:
Rechtstreekse uitzending van de wedstrijd Kim Clijsters-Christina Wheeler (AustraliŽ)
Commentaar: Karl Vannieuwkerke

It seems RTBF is spending no time at all at the Aus Open??? I don't see anything tennisrelated in their TV schedule

Yeah, what a pity, The Crow...
Maybe they will only broadcast the 2nd week, if our Belgian girls are still in the tournament of course...

There's a hope: maybe we will be able to see "Henin-Kournikova" live...
The german channel "ARD" will show the Australian Open live at 1am, so this should be the centre court match "Federer-Chang", or... "Kournikova-Henin"!
I hope it will be the second choice of course ;)

How can I know beforehand which match they'll show?? Cause otherwise I will follow it online, and my PC and tele are a half an hour drive away from eachother ;)

Jan 14th, 2002, 03:59 PM
They don't say anything at this moment on their website and on the teletext... maybe later today? I hope so ;)

BTW Kournikova is waaaay more popular in Germany than Chang or Federer...

But maybe they'll show a match from one of the Germans on the lower courts?

Jan 14th, 2002, 04:32 PM
Germans playing on lower courts by this time (play begins at 0h belgian time):

Matthieu (FRA) - Schuettler (GER) court 10
Malisse (BEL) - Behrend (GER) court 16

Since they start broadcasting from 1.00, it will probably the Federer or the Justine match. *fingers crossed*

Thanks for the information, turt! :D

But Haas is also playing at the same time, so I don't know...

I think they will show parts of it, but I'm not too sure if they will show the whole match.

Safin-C. Rochus

on Centre Court today!

BUT, Tommy Haas plays on the vodafone Arena at the same time, so I guess we won't see this match LIVE :( :( :(

So again no live broadcasting from VRT or RTBF then? :( Belgians on show courts all the time and they don't show it
