This is excelent, maybe even a step towards a comeback, if she wins. I knowit would be ahrd for her to except not being the best, but she can be a steady top 20 player, at her current form.

I am happy for her but I don't really want to spoil it but the chance is that hingis is just doing the exhibition to fulfil her commitments with her sponsors, so don't look too far yet

I agree with wong!

Could you please give details such as where will this exhibition take place? I can make plans to go attend.

Unfortunately for Tennis, it is only a committment that she wishes to fulfill. She has no intention of returning, the refusal to renegotiate sponser contracts confirms that. She is slowly but surely severing all ties.

Yes, it is just to fulfill her contract w/Adidas...

She probably has to play there, she still has a contract with Adidas.

It will be great to see her on the court, but don't get too excited about it ;)

hopefully this will be her way of easing back into tennis. (i'm not convinced that she's retired)

if martina plays well it might inspire her to come back, but you don't want to get your hopes up and read too much into this. i doubt martina would play however if she wasn't still at least practicing regularly. maybe she will come out and shock everyone with a bombing service. i agree that women's tennis needs her, or somebody to fill her absence, because the game has really lost that edge in my opinion.

It's an exhibition means play for FUN! She told that she can run for only an hour or less... so, she want play there for only an hour.

i miss hingis as much as you do. the reason that the tour has lost some edge is because it has lapsed back into a two-woman show stranglehold a la evert-navratilova and graf-seles. between '98 and '01, 9 different players won slams but we all know what's happened since then. once davenport and capriati are back to their old selves (and it's probably sooner than we think) then we'll have less dominance from the williams sisters (of course clijsters and henin are formidable challengers as well, and if she can stay healthy, add mauresmo to that list).

to be honest i think the williams sisters need a player like martina to raise their level. it might seem strange considering their domination of late, but especially in venus case i believe she was at her best against martina, and i just think that neither one of them is actually playing the type of tennis they are capable of. i know it sounds stupid, and i am not criticising them, but i when watch them i don't think that they are playing at an unattainable level, although i know they can. also i just think that rivalry is really needed to make tennis more exciting.

how recent is this news? are you sure this isn't news from a few months ago only now making it to print? martina might've pulled out of this event ages ago. if not, others have already made the point that he's probably just doing this to fulfill her commitment to her sponsor. i would not get excited just yet.

I think I know what you mean, Switz. It will be nice to see Hingis on court again and I'm sure her fans are thrilled to see her too, even if it isn't for a tournament..... there is still hope.

Hopefully they will televise this match,.. I guess it could draw higher viewer rate than Grand Slam final if Martina plays a decent player. ;)

I miss you, Martina~~

Top 10 even!
I believe she can still beat some players out of the current top 10, for example Hantuchova, Dokic and Rubin!

GOOO MARTINA! :D

Picol, where did you read that Martina refuses to sign new contracts with her sponsors ? On the contrary in her latest interview she said that she planed to go to Geramany to work for Adidas . Her future plans include work with Omega, Adidas-Salomon and s.o . ;)
