Is the NASDAQ 100 truly the fifth grand slam?

I have always loved the Miami tourney. I have always found it cool. Even before the Sisters came on the scene - I wouldn't miss this tourney if it was shown on TV. And when Venus beat Anna in the final in - was it 1998 - I was sooooo happy for her? I loved it - because IMO - that win was a turning point for her confidence.

There seems to be sooooo much electricity in the air in Miami. Is it me - or does the sun seem to shine brighter more in Miami than it does @ IW? And this feeling on my part has nothing to do w/V&S.

The crowd seems larger also - and especially during the semis and finals.
Plus - the guys and dolls get to start off at the same time @ this tourney. I just love it.

The birds and the bees are out in full force now. Spring has sprung for real.

It's a great tournament and besides the Slams and the Year-end Championships, it's the most important event. So yes, it is special in a way and since all the players are there it is very enjoyable to watch also...

The IW stadium holds over 2,000 more people than Miami, so I don't think the crowds are bigger.

The only reason Miami has a bigger overall attendance is because the guys start at the same time. Next year IW switches to a full 96-draw on both sides, so everyone will start at the same time on Wednesday with a full 10-day event.

It's the Wimbledon phenomenon. Its important because of its prestige...the prestige comes from all of the hype.

i think the reason why a lot of people like miami more is because of a couple of factors like the williams sisters are there and that both mens and womens draws are the same size making it the biggest tournament after the slams. and as mentioned above the men and women start at the same time in miami which gives it the overall feel like a slam.

Possibly the reason the crowds are bigger--if infact they are, do you have #'s like you did for Indian Wells?-- is because all the top players are here.

Both sisters, Henin-Hardenne skipped Indian Wells, but are here. Agassi was injured, but he's here.

I've always loved Miami and see it as the fifth grandslam. Why is Indian Wells expanding to a full ten day both tour schedule is beyond me. The choice to put the women's and the men final on the same day is trivial and decreases the impact of the women's game since they started out like a week before the men did.

It was unfair for both sexes cos the men seem to play everyday then to come back three days later to play in Miami...

It was really unfair and I think this is why players are complaining about the tours..Scottsdale should have been a mixed event and Delray should have been moved up a week to accomodate the players.

I love watching Miami--It's a tournament that I would love to go see--especially since the second week goes on during my spring break!
