Okay, the rankings used to say "Peng, Shuai," which means that Peng would have been the family name. Then they switched not too long ago to "Shuai, Peng."

Now it's back to "Peng, Shuai," as in alphabetically in the P's. But the draw says "Shuai, Peng."

This should be very simple but it looks like it's too complicated for the WTA. Once they find out her family name, it should be "Family name, given name" in the rankings AND what they call her in speaking, correct? So, which is it?

This is what happens when you give undeserved WC's... confusing your fans. Shame, WTA... shame.

I was Evert Academy and Pengy, as some of us call her :o, lives there. Everyone called her Peng so I am pretty sure it is Peng Shuai, at least that what I think it said on the dorm assignment sheet :o.
And brunof, Peng plays two handed off both sides like monica. ;)

Not as many as she has received... especially in the US.

So...if you called her Peng...that would be her given name...so her family name would be Shuai...

So the rankings should say "Shuai, Peng," and in China she would be called Shuai Peng, but in America she would be referred to as Peng Shuai.

Yes?

um yea i think so Hurley ;).
Anyway, what I saw from Peng, she is very built and she's pretty tall. She has nice hard groundies but I wasn't around when she was practicing anyother shot. All I know is that she was a really cool girl.

Her surname is Peng and her name is Shuai, I am sure about that.

Both she and I are Chinese, and Chinese names always cause a lot of trouble to English-speaking people.

Monica spoke very highly of her and she actually took 3 games off Monica

(and for someone ranked 400 thats great)

Monica speaking highly of someone means very little... she's too damn nice.

Yes, I understand that. But the WTA rankings keep switching it so I don't know which is correct.

Are you Chinese? Can you, or anyone, tell me definitively which is her family name and which is her given name?
