does anyone know why rainer hoffman is not in jail when all reports said he was sentenced to a term (i cannot remember the length). do the germans run a system where criminals can decide when they are to be detained or has he been given a suspended sentence? he is always at her matches and i heard something about a civil case with willy schnyder. i don't understand.

i don't want any patty PR propaganda here so stay away pat2003. i also don't want another confrontation with the car key boi, because i am afraid of him.

I believe the International Tennis Federation has a standing offer of $10,000 (US) as a prize to anyone who can figure out the German judicial system. *

Ah yes, wasn't that same system responsible for letting the guy who stabbed poor Monica out without serving ANY jail time?? What's up with that??

Swiss, German - six of one, 4 dozen of the other ;)

In the US, if you appeal your conviction you can often remain free until the case is decided. Perhaps something similar could be happening here?

i pretty sure hoffman is german, but that doesn't matter anyway, you go to jail where the crime was committed. you are probably right about the appeal griffin, i jus found it strange that we never hear anything about it. hoffman seems like the kind of guy who would do anything to avoid facing up to his responsibilities eg dumping his wife and kid. you know i passionately dislike people who prioritise themself over their children, and although i hate to judge people wthout all the facts, hoffman really pisses me off and to be honest i have really lost a lot of respect for my all time favourite player patty because of this whole thing. she needs to get some respect for herself and stop looking for father figures in the form of dodgy german gurus/criminals!

switz? i don't recall having any sort of confrontation with yuo

the way i remember it, that hoffman fuck came onto this board and i verbally assaulted him with my full arsenal of highly offensive and personal insults

but at no time in that thread, did i have any argument with yuo

I also wondered what he was doing at the AO with Patty, as I thought he's meant to be in jail too. It's all quite strange!

I think that Rainer Hofmann has brainwashed Patty and everyone else in Switzerland into thinking that he is God because he "saved" Patty from Harnecker all those years ago. Nobody ever dares to criticize Hofmann for being an arrogant, un-apologetic swindler, and that's probably why there aren't press reports about what goes on with his jail sentence.

Switz, you don't have to be afraid of Car Key Boi - as long as you're not an evil Nazi pimp, the worst he will probably do to you is key the shit out of your passenger side door. :)

As I remember CKB did his best to defend Patty's honor in the last "confrontation" with Hoffman.

Can anyone tell me that story with Hoffman? What he's done?
Also, I know that Patty had problems with some guy in the past. Dunno if I've got it right but that guy tried to take all her money from her. Is that true? And who was that guy?
Is Patty in a relationship?

After winning 5 titles and being Newcomer of the Year in '98, PP fell under the "strong influence" of another German Rainer (Harnecker, who was about 20 years older than her). He put her on a weird diet of nothing but water and orange juice B4 2PM.

After a Suisse reporter and cult expert (Hugo Stamm) failed to convince the then 19 y.o. PP to leave Harnecker, her parents were referred to a supposed detective named Rainer Hofmann (about 12 years her senior, I think). He did get "Harny" out of the picture, but "Hoffy" (despite being married) simply took his place, minus the guru type stuff.

So she never did reconcile with her parents, as Rainer II, a very slick character, was more interested in her future earnings than in what the Peppermint Parents would have paid him. He pled guilty in November '02 to defrauding Deutsche Telekom out of some amount around $850,000.

He got an 18 month suspended sentence plus 18 months probation, partly using PP's money to pay them back and thus keep his ass out of jail. He and PP were married in December 2003. I'll let someone else pick up the story from here.

i have been investigating Rainer Hofmann for more than 3 years now, and i still honestly can not tell you whether he is a genius or a madman.

What i CAN tell you is that there is probably no other male figure in the WTA today who has had a more powerful influence over the player he manages/coaches. For better or worse, Patty Schnyder in 2006 is 100% Hofmann's creation. She is a completely different human being than she was before he entered her life. Hofmann has claimed very aggressively that the changes he brought about in Patty have been for the better. However, not everybody agrees with him.

Well con artists typically are quite sociable and charming so the fact that you found in that way does not make much of a point... ESPN commentators only has praise for him, same line every time that Patty gives him credit for making her believe in herself. Is all they ever say about him...

Ironically, that motivational stuff was something the first Rainer claimed 2B an expert in. (Oh well, @ least Hoffy never claimed to have turned down Steffi Graf as a client).

One of the ongoing mysteries surrounding Hofmann is why the WTA, the tennis establishment (including the American ESPN commentators), and the Swiss media seem to have been going out of their way to protect a man with a significant criminal record from deeper scrutiny. As they say in politics, Hofmann is getting a "free pass". The question is, why?

How about: "To avoid bad publicity". For example, do they talk about the Bikic Bastards controlling the lives and probably ruining the careers of Jeca and K-lina? About convicted armed robber Bobby Glenn Pearce Jim Pierce, also a physical abuser of his kids? About Lei Clijsters having used Kim to get undeserved Tier II maindraw WC's for Elke? (Etc. etc. etc.) I guess the media doesn't want players like this freezing them out.

Maybe Patty's teenaged lesbian daughter will stab Hoffmann to death with a knife from the cutlery set he bought Patty for the kitchen, and we can sweep this whole thing under the carpet after a brief inquisition.

i know it probably hurts you to hear this JR, but Leo Clisters' using his clout to get Elke undeserved WC's does not rise to the significance of the other scandals you mentioned. That particular pet obsession of yours is a complete waste of time and i suggest you replace it with a new one.

The Rainer story is very interesting one, I don't know Rainer but last year at a tournament Patty was about to play. Then someone came and took a seat a few seats along and I looked next to me and saw it was Rainer  I didn't know why he wasn't sitting in the player box  well he was so animated, Patty threw a ball into the crowd in anger and Rainer was muttering "Nein Patty, das ist nicht gut" (No Patty that is not good) and when she hit winners he was "Ja Patty! Sehr gut gespielt" and one time he was muttering to himself. "Fur Rudi Patty" and I then when I got home looked it up and found Rudi was the dead cat of Patty  :awww: Well that was my meeting with Rainer, he was so concentrated and didn't even look at us or around him, just focused on Patty. A bit off topic, but that was my meeting

that's another thing, Hofmann instilled in Patty a bizarre fascination with cats starting with his cat "Rudi". Patty's mother said that Patty never liked cats at all prior to her relationship with Hofmann, and now cats have become a big focus of her life. She took it so far as to demand being asked questions about her cats on condition of granting interviews to Swiss reporters.

I'm not a cat person and i find the "cat lover" culture sort of creepy.

It was just to illustrate the different types of dirt they sweep under the rug, whereas naming a Marcinko Lucic, etc. is "more of the same". (I could also mention Petr the Terrible, but I don't want to get Sarah mad @ me). :scared:
