Since the retirement of the wonderful French player Julie Halard-Decugis, I've been forlornly searching through the WTA ranks for someone to succeed her as my favorite player. Are there any Halard-esque players out there whom I've missed? Tennis isn't the same without her!
—Chris B., England

I'd be lying if I said we get a lot of Halard-Decugis questions these days, but your point is well taken. She had a certain flair and a real economy to her game -- almost Miroslav Mecir-like -- that we seldom see. If you're willing to switch your allegiances to the men's game, you can never go wrong watching her compatriot Fabrice Santoro. Otherwise, go with Anastasia Myskina, who plays the most whimsical tennis on tour now that Martina Hingis is a pensioner.

That Chris fella has taste. ;)

I had noticed that Mr Wertheim had been relatively kind to JHD in the past, so I thought it was worth asking a question, if only to get JHD talked about! :) As good a reason as any. :)

I shall now become a man of letters.

Whatever that is.

Anyway, many thanks for finding that Griffin, Id forgotten Id sent it! :)

Hehehe Go Chris Ba!!!!!!!

I think John W is/was a closet fan of hers!!!!!!

Long live Julie, the fresh faced, DTE, giggly Parisan Pixie!!!!!!!!!!!! Never will their be a top ten player again with such a small ego, its was lovely to see how she never let her fame change her. She was so innocent and as sincere. I loved seeing her after a victory or when she got interviewed, she was always so giggly and shy as well as excited.

Wish there was another player like her too Chris but I am yet to find one with the same personality!

The question now surely is... are you going to take up his advice and become a Nastya fan?
