I've asked this question before but I just wanted to do it in a poll format.

Anyway, which type of player gives you the most trouble on court? The type which really gets on your nerve. You don't play right. You don't think right. It's just one big mess.

For me, pushers have alway given the most trouble. They get back almost every ball, even the ones who hit oh-so-perfectly. It's very frustrating because I feel that they are not even hitting the ball right!

In contrast, I love playing serve and volleyers or netrushers. I just love an opportunity to pass someone.

So, how 'bout you guys? Which type of player gives the most trouble?

Little shits that run everything down...

I like playing my "serve-ACE" or "serve-weak return-easy volley putaway" game

Serve and volleyers. I have no clue what the fuck I'm supposed to do. I keep thinking whether I should hit the return low at their feet or just pass them straightaway. Of course I can't get a return of serve in play to begin with  I don't mind playing pushers, but I hate playing clay court dirtballers. So mentally and physically draining,

It depends on the day. Usually, I can handle a pusher. I just keep hitting through the ball and try to put them in a defensive position that allows me to finish the point or provoke an error. Or sometimes I simply try to outsteady them. The other night, however, I played a pusher and simply didn't have the patience to finish him off. This was a guy I had beaten 6-3, 6-0 a few weeks ago, and my match against him was for a league championship. All I needed was to win one set and the title was mine regardless of what happened in the match. I hit out in the first set and won it 6-2. Then I relaxed and got into a slice and dink match with him, the result being I lost the next two sets 6-4 and 6-3. My 41-year-old body and mind simply couldn't outlast his 20-something attributes, and I paid dearly for it the next day!

The players who give me the most fits are the big, big servers with heavy, accurate and consistent groundstrokes. They overwhelm me and are usually a better player than me. I prefer to play someone I can overwhelm with my groundstrokes, or someone who I can use their pace to generate even more pace of my own.

I can tell you what we hate... anything low. Keep the ball low, that pisses us off. :)

I think I have great passing shots. In fact, I draw opponents into the net and then pass them, so I am successful against serve and volleyers. I also love playing hard hitters, I play better with pace.

The hardest for me are the very consistent players who just get everything back. I really need to concentrate to beat them, but by the time I concentrate, it's sometimes too late.

I really really hate pushers. I mean, you hit a great shot into a corner. They get to it and push it back lazily over the net. then you make an error. ARGH!

Generally for me it's pusher (Ai Sugiyama)!!! They put everything back, you can do the best shot they'll get it back, and then I will do the mistake

I am a pusher...haha, so when I have to play another pusher, it's a loooong match. I don't playing serve and volley players because I can hit lobs and passing shots. I can run things down, return big serves, and hit hard shots back. I guess what bothers me most is playing a player just like me, it's frustrating.

Lol, I have to say pushers too. Even though I probably don't play as often as most of you, pushers are really annoying. I like pace better, and high balls always confuse me. I like playing people when they're at the net. I'm a pretty good retriever, and I think my lob is pretty good too.

Big servers.
I can never position myself properly against them.

So in revenge, I always serve to their bodies.
(I hit one in the shoulder last time! Only because he was SO arrogant. The ballboys were for me though. :) )

I love every stile of play. The pusher gives me the oportunity to take charge and control the points.

The serve/volley player is the one i hate the most, but the good part is that most of the times, serve/volley players donīt like to be attacked at net, so i have learned to do that recently and found out that i could volley :p ;) as well.

I think its good to have variety in your game, i was a baseline player in the past, but playing doubles and trying to have a better serve has helped me a lot to get to the net. Its really nice to hit a slice deep in the corner and rush the net, it really puts pressure on you. Its a good way to win points faster rather than being running at the baseline.

I didnt mind serve/volleyers cos my return is 'usually' my forte, but found players who use excessive spins probably most annoying cos its hard to get a rhythm.

Dont play much so id probably struggle with any style these days :p

I'm a power player but sometimes i go for shots that are just not on so i miss quite a lot.But when i'm good i totally dominate other players!

I don't like playing players that don't give me any pace because then i have to make it all myself and i miss even more.I've started to get used to this now so i don't loose to this way much now.I tend to loose to people who run the ball down and force me to hit winning shot aftre winning shot!

I play more of a counterpunching style, I don't mind dictating aswell, but I usually feed off the aggression of others, and try and counter their attacks.

I don't mind playing 'pushy' players because I am quite patient so that doesn't frustrate me.

I would say that serve and volleyers probably give me the more trouble because they rush me more than I'd like to be, and if they can do it efficiently, they aim a lot to my forehand side which causes more errors, and site up more for them to have an easier put away.

I don't play very often but I hate playing against serve and volley people, last time I was destroyed :(
I like to play long matches and use slice backhand all the time and suddently when they're playing only to it or try to volley hit it hard to the line, i enjoy looking at their faces

i dislike playing a serve volleyer, simply because i'm expected to do something good with the ball from the first shot. i much prefer time to construct a point and use my arsenal of lobs, slices, tops and drop shots.

I don't mind playing a pusher, because I am consistent and won't be broken down through impatience. If they lack a weapon, then they'll suffer, because I can play the mind games well.

No, any player that rushes me and I start to panic.

People who apply so much slice that the ball only bounces like half an inch of the ground, and you cant get it back.

Drop shot/lob specialist. I don't like being pulled in and then lobbed over. I'm very comfy in extended rallies, so retrievers and baseline power types are no big deal. I haven't gotten to play a serve-and-volley player in a dog's age.

I hate pushers and people who don't give you any rhythm. I can handle serve and volleyers pretty well, and can return accurately really good serves, but when it comes to a pusher I start rushing and make errors all over the place. Then I get angry with myself because I think that my opponent is a no-talent who is doing nothing on court, and it's even worse. And then I try to play the pusher myself, but I just don't have the patience, and end up playing like a 10 year old with no strokes, serve or anything...

So, yeah ;) I hate pushers, too
