Shriver must have mentioned 10 times that Clijsters beat the Williams six months ago at the WTA Championships, conveniently forgetting to mention that VENUS had an injury withdrawl, that SERENA beat her twice this year, including a GS final and that VENUS took out Kim in straight sets in Antwerp.

Maybe, next week in Miami, VENUS & SERENA will give Pam and others another taste of reality. :)

I still don't understand why they don't mention that Venus was injured AND Serena was obviously tired.

I dunno.

She really sounds like a broken record, I really like Kim but sometimes I find myself hoping she loses because of Pam and Mary Jo.

Maybe now, Pam will just speak of Kim's last win at IW and not that WTA Championship.

Fat chance of that happening. :)

Pam is stupid...how many times does it have to be said. She is obsessed with finding someone to take down Serena and Venus.

Kim winning this title is only going to have her talking more shot next week in Miami...we all know what we have to look forward to.

No way that Kim is playing better than V or S given the fact that she had not managed a win over either this season.

Kim is playing great this year. She has been in the final of 4 of 5 tournaments. Venus has been in the final of 2of2 tournaments. Please show me the logic behind "Kim is playing better than Venus.

I can't wait to see whose section she ends up in...I want it to be Venus ;)

Because being "obviously tired" from one 3 set match doesn't cut it for a PROFESSIONAL.

For the past couple of tournies the main seeds in her half of the draw have fallen before she would have gotten to them.

since when is lindsay a catwalk and even miss rubin would be in the top 5 soon too when she was the star of the bandwagoner club of this board last summer :o

ok fine, then i'll rephrase my statement, i hope the seeds get through to give kim an actual test...of course its not kims fault though...but shes only met a 1 top ten player in the since antwerp...

Being tired is not an excuse. It just doesn't cut it. Neither does the flu, a cold, a shoulder injury, or blah blah blah blah. If you take the court leave the excuses at home. Kim's shoulder was bother her thats why she lost the french early blah blah blah. She should have withdrawn. The same goes for venus at the champs. No one forced venus to play she should have withdrawn because now it counts against her as a loss. Those are the breaks.

I say all these players should save the excuses for their mama because she is the only one who cares.

GO VENUS GO SERENA!

I agree 100%!!! Might I add "negativity" to the list of excuses?

Lets also not forget all the excuses made for Kim last year when she was losing. I hate excuses for all players including Monica.

Ms. Pam (The idiot)Shiver!! is a verystupid commentor, and I'm going
to send a email to ESPN about her when then they have thier questions
segment which will be soon, because I'm getting tired of her saying the same stupid line, Kim beat Venus&Serena back to back at the end of the WTA tour in L.A. don't she realize Venus pull out she was injuryed, but nooooooo, she is dying to see Kim take over or some one else in bad way i thing she wants to see the sisters fall !! she does not give the sisters enough credit for what they have done for tennis since they came on tour!! but we know better then her what the sisters has done for tennis!! and they will show PAM to go get another career!!!

First of all, I will agree that saying Kim Beat BOTH Sisters in LA is false, without saying Venus was injured [heck, Pam must be rubbing off on Cliff--he said the same thing  ]. But saying Serena was "tired" isn't an excuse to lose. Venus once said [after Amelia Island] "Being tired isn't an excuse...I should have trained harder" ;)

As for Kim's "cakewalk" draws...that's not her fault. She doesn't say "Top players lose". She plays who gets to her.

But what was up with Lindsay? Against Jen, she was smiling and having a good time, today she didn't want to be there.

Lol, Pam only mentioned it like 4 times.;) If you people actually listened to the other stuff Pam said you'd realise she is intelligent and knows more about tennis then almost every other commentator out there.

Excuses, excuses. If Venus was injured she shouldn't have played. Same goes for Serena and being tired. And for Hingis, Lindsay, Seles, Kim, Henin and every other WTA player who's made up excuses before.

I don't care if Pam want's to believe that Kim is better then Venus, Venus made it to 3 slams finals last year and 1 this year, Kim made it to 0. What bothers me is what she said doing the Jenn and Lindsay match,
I'll quote what she said, "the top two spot are not decided, both Venus and Serena are injury prone, it';s a long season, with a bad injury by one, the other ladies will have a great chance of narrowing the gap." I was so shock when I heard this, even by boyfriend who does not watch any tennis, felt she was wishing them harm.

Am I the only one who doesn't care what Pam says? :p

I mean, I know she is annoying. But if Venus is better, we shall soon see. If Kim is better, we shall soon see.

Personally, I think Pam will have to eat her words pretty soon, and I look forward to it. But in the meanwhile, it is just the same old, same old with Pam, and although it makes sense to complain to ESPN if one feels strongly about it, what makes no sense is believing her words carry any weight. I mean, she can say something 200 times, but that won't make those words be true. ;)

I do wonder what turned her against Venus, though.

Good point Janie. Pam was Venus' WTA Tour Mentor. Now she's all dissin' Venus and shyt. What happened?!

Talking up the competition...I can deal with. But suggesting that others can gain on them if V or S are injured...now THAT'S EVIL!!!

That really IS Evil! I did not see the post stating that until after I wrote my own post. I hope people do complain to ESPN about that. Pam is way out of line in saying this. What is behind it? You reckon maybe Venus didn't return a phone call? ;)

The fact that the Williams sisters are mentionned in every single tennis match even when they're not playing only tells you who the best players are! They're the reference in the WTA and everybody compares anybody's game to theirs to have a sense of who plays well and who doesn't, who has a chance of getting to the top or who doesn't ... so I'm not bothered by the fact that Shriver was talking about Venus and Serena all the time!

Excellent point! It is, in fact, a fine tribute to the sisters that Pam can't keep her mind off them, even when they are 3,0000 miles away.

Ok i'm not a big fan of Pam I could care less what she says and I don't take it seriously either, but I think this whole wishing the Williams harm thing is being taken out of context. Cliff was just asking her who she thinks will end the year at number 3..she said it could be Venus..and then then sort of discussed how tennis is unpredictable. That is when she brought out that the Williams tend to be a little injury prone and it's possible that they could get hurt and thus lose their ranking.

In my opinion she wasn't wishing them harm...she was just trying to point out that you can't say for sure what will happen from now till the end of the season.

um.... actually she DID mention time and time again that Serena beat her in the Oz semis. were you even listening? but i mean when 2 players are playing in the finals, obviously they are going to say good things about them both and they aren't gonna say oh she lost to this and that and blah blah blah. but i have to agree, Pam has to cut down a bit on how many times she mentions that. and one other thing that i really hated was that they keep on retelling the Williams incident of 2001 every single time. i mean did u hear a peep from them when it was the Australian Open and that Dokic wasn't playing in there after the nig "scandal" that happened there. they should just drop it and talk about what's going on at the court instead of sidetracking and talking about the past way too much.
