Hot news just coming in from The Grapevine Forum (www.alltimegreatestc&whits.com)

One half of the world famous duo The Williams Sisters has pulled out of their next gig in Miami due to a broken guitar string. Lead singer Vee Williams said, "This kinda sucks, we were really looking forward to playing together again in front of our fan, but Ess Williams is heart-broken over that string trouble".

The Sisters, famous for such hits as 'My ma and pa don't love me, but I still won't shoot the dog' and the smash number one in the Nebraska Country & Western chart recently 'Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the net-post overnight?', had planned a reunion concert in Miami after failing to show up for their last gig in California due to poor ticket sales and a general lack of interest. Vee said, "We were hoping to sing a couple of choons for the folks down there, but nobody seemed interested and we just can't understand why". Ess was reportedly quoted as saying "I had a huge problem with my plectrum but I’ve seen the doc and he’s given me some cream now. He said to wait at least four weeks for the swelling to come down".

One inconsolable and delirious fan, Martha Greatbutt from Nashville said "I was so looking forward to seeing The Williams Sisters playing again. Guess I’ll just hafta console myself with my Dolly Parton Hugest Hits."

Despite this tragic loss, Vee has promised her fan that she will still put in an appearance in Miami. "It’s not quite the same when Ess isn’t there, it seems there’s something missing and I will miss her terrible. She’s like a sister to me", Vee told reporters at the C&W awards dinner in Memphis, Friday, where The Sisters were appearing to present the prize to the best female duo. "We were kinda disappointed not to be nominated for this award" said Ess, "but we kinda guessed after sales of our Greatest Hit album kinda stalled at 32". Host Merv Smarm questioned this. "32 million?". "No, just 32" replied Ess.

When questioned about how Vee intended to play the Miami gig solo, she said "I don’t intend hanging around for too long. I expect to be on stage for as short a time as possible, knock out a couple of numbers for the suckers, and then clear off as quickly as possible as I have a pre-arranged appointment at the Banjo Fiddlers Gala in Little Rock, Thursday".
