If Serena is healthy as an ox, She'll defintely defend.
But more so, I wouldn't be surprised if Venus wins.

i would prefer a surprise win. and by that i pretty much mean i don't want the williams sisters or clijsters to win.

if someone in the top 10 wins i would like it to be either capriati to say she is back and finally win a title other than a grand slam, hantuchova to prove she isn't a fluke (which i think is very important to the game) or dokic.

but i really would prefer an up and comer to win. but then again this thread is aslking who do you think will win and it's not who you want to win.

so, i hae to say serena or venus and the way their matches have been going serena will win.

I love to see Lindsay or Capriati played at their best level and win the tournament by Lindsay ofcourse. Williams really have a say on this, but I think its really possible if everybody is on their best form

I think Serena will win...not that I think Kim has no chance, though. I would not be surprised if someone like Capriati or Davenport won the whole thing.

I'm going with Venus. I have a feeling that this is her year. She's too good to be denied for long. I really want Serena to go undefeated, but I want more for Venus to break her drought against Serena. I think she can do it.

Aside for a Williams, the obvious choices.... I think a Belgian or two could find her way into the final. I also think that Monica has a shot at it. And Jennifer and Lindsay are always dangerous. I'm going completely out on a limb...but I'll pick:

Remember that it was exactly a year ago at this tournament when Serena turned the tables on Venus. Now the reverse can happen.

I really think that the answer for Venus to beat Serena is to play her in smaller tournaments like this one, non-slams.

If not a Williams sister, then:

as we have seen this week? from lindsay we saw nothing but errors, from kim we saw nothing but defense (like she always does against venus/serena and looses, same goes for cappy, now if they would've showed us a whole new game plan and better play, they would be contenders, but w/ the way they were playing. 2 Quarters and a semi will be their best result.

and to mention about Leena already beating Venus, they played in 2001 an "official" WTA Match. yes Bovina has improved, but clearly she hasn't improved to the extent to even dare challenge venus or serena. That was an exhibition, but I do understand, you will continue to give her "high hyped praise" until she is beaten easily by venus/serena.

don't worry elena (dementieva that is) will beat serena in the 4th rd and then win the title against V or kim in the final!!!!!
