Sonya is creeping back up the rankings, still struggling a bit against some of the higher ranked players in the challengers, but she's been regularly getting through the qualifying which is really helping her ranking and hopefully her confidence too :)

Keep it up Sonya!

not sure if everyone knew or not, but Sonya competed in Miami pre-qualifying - she reached the quarterfinals, where sadly she lost to Tiffany Dabek.

too abd she lost, as she'd beaten Dabek late last year, but every match counts for something, and hopefully we will see her continuing to steadily improve with each tournament :)

well unfortunately Sonya and Meilen's run ended yesterday with a tough 6-1, 6-2 loss to Liezel Huber and Magdalena Maleeva.

Tough matchup for them against a team with a more consistent game than Kournikova/Dementieva.

Still though, a great effort for them, and Sonya's doubles ranking should take a decent jump up from her current spot just inside the top 200 :)

Keep going Sonya :)

At least they won one match...that should really help out her doubles ranking..good luck next time Sonya

I've seen some interesting pictures of Jeyaseelan's grips recently. I know that she has a two handed backhand and a two handed forehand, but it appears that on her forehand side she switches grips to hit a left handed two handed backhand. If that is the case, two things seem apparent. One, Sonya hits two handed backhands on both sides, or two handed backhands only. Two, it takes away precious time on her forehand side. Has anyone seen her play and could comment on this??? Luv ya Sonya!!!
