Kimiko Date is former #4 (Her Highest Rank ever on The WTA)

Would Sugiyama follow her step to become #4?

The short answer is no. :p as much as Ai had a great week this week, she has never shown the ability to sustain this kind of form over a period of time  I think Ai is definitely a player who can get inside the top 15 this year (as is Amanda) but with the top 10 so tough at the moment its hard to see Ai crashing the party anytime soon. Top 5 seems totally out of the question.

Yeah I think so, She might get into TOP 12 at the most

To Reach #4

Ai has to reach 3 GS QF/SF and beating TOP 10 players on the way!

or

Ai Has to WON 3 more Tier II or I Titles!

I think its funny that a player has one good win and then people talk about them being Top 4...

Well you know, it doesn't even have to be one good win. I seem to recall a "Will Emilie Loit break the top 20" - or was it top 10? - thread not long ago.

But to answer the question, no, she won't make the top 4. But that isn't to say she won't have a nice year.
