Dear Ai:

Ai, you finally made it!!

I have been following you ever since you made 4th round at FO in 1995.
But for years, I have been disappointed with your so many bad losses.
Then, you have kept improving step by step only to achieve success.

It's been a most exciting week for your fans this week. You are now one of a few players who beat Davenport and Clijsters in the same tournament(, which might not happen again realistically....but I still believe you can go even further).

Thanks for a great week and wish your more success for years to come.

Omedetou Ai chan! :wavey: :hearts: :bounce:

Well done Ai! :bounce:

She certainly had an incredible week with wins over Koulikovskaya, Davenport, Daniilidou, Stevenson and Clijsters.

Ai played a tremendous match!!! She was aggressive from the beginning, leading 3-1 in the first set before having that lapse. But after the rain delay at the 3rd set, she played like a top 10 player, painting the lines, and excellent net play! I never knew how badly Kim was up at net til this match...but much deserved to Ai. She her 2nd match in a day, both 3 setters!! Amazing!!:D

I dont post that often but i guess i just think it's a hoot how much fewer threads there are on the match now, than before when everyone was rah-rahing for Kim...(nothing against Kim, she's great :) I mean, I'm not trying to rile up anyone....

It just goes to say that you can never be sure WHO will win a match on any given day...anything CAN happen.....

I had no idea after the Alex match that Ai would have had enough gas in her to beat Kim, and to do it for another 3 long sets. It's really an amazing feat for her and I hope that EVERYONE (Kim fans too) can have their slice of humble pie and congratulate Ai on a win that no one probably believed she would achieve.

KUDOS TO AI!!!

I was rooting for the Great Asian Hope. Good win though. :D
On a serious note, those who watched it, was Kim outplayed or she did not show up after the rain delay. And I am not taking anything away from Ai. looks to me that playing an entire match early in the day gives you an advantage coz you are so thoroughly warmed up. Venus pilot pen 2001, Justine (i don't remeber where)
Now Kim step this all the way up to IW, all yours for the taking!

I thought Kim was outplayed, Kim tried to change the pace after the break but Ai was there for every shot.

Kim had a bad day at the office. But saying it's the only reason why she lost, is too much taking away from Ai. :)

WOW!

I left for the gym when it was 5 all in the second set. I just assumed Kim would pull it out. So much for that! :)

congrats to Ai, you have to hand it to someone who plays two matches in one day and wins both!! On top of it, a semi AND a final. :D

Ai!!!!!

AWSOME! She played the best tennis of her life this week! Beating Davenport, Daniilidou, Clijsters is very hard to do but in one week, it's very inpressive!

Kim had a bad day at the office. But saying it's the only reason why she lost, is too much taking away from Ai. :)So true - Kim wasn't playing great :( ... but she was playing well enough to beat anybody outside the top ten! The fact that she didn't beat Ai is because Ai played this whole week as if she is top ten material.

I've really enjoyed seeing her play so well. Congrats, Ai!! :)

really nice pics of Ai and Kim on yahoo, but I don't know how to post it...:oElke, to post pics you find on the net you: rightclick the pic in question
choose properties (eigenschappen)
copy the address (URL => "http://....") you find in properties
choose "insert image" (it's above the 'advanced' reply box, looks like a little image)
paste the url in the pop-up and choose ok
That should work :)

The match was great. I did think that Kim was in control at certain points, but AI would not go away. She did not give up, and fought for every point. I was shocked that she still had the strength left after playing that tough match with Alexandra. AI really worked hard for this title IMO. She deserved the win, and I know she is making her country proud. Congrats AI. After seeing her on tour for so long always losing, it's nice to see her doing well.

What a nice pics!!!!

I'm so sad for Kim!!! But so happy for Ai!!! If I had to fear someone for Kim after the draw was made for a final was Ai and Serena!! Ai is a great fighter who brings all the balls back!! I hope Kim won't be too disapointed!!

And also, it's Kim/Ai's 3rd doubles title in 4 tournamets!!! OMG

fought hard. congrats to her!!
