she's playing very erratic, unbelievable :fiery:

Ai Sugiyama will walk away with this if Miss Clijsters doesn't raise her game quickly

she is playing really bad at the moment, but kim will fight her way into the match (I hope!)
so funny that the umpire mic isn't working :-)

Blame it on playing a doubles partner. She's lost to Bacheva, Shaughnessy, I think maybe Sugiyama before, and maybe others when they have been her doubles partner in the same tourney.

she lacks agression, hits the ball to late, and doesn't look enthousiastic and motivated.

is it because she is playing ai? is it becasue she knows she can beat her anyway because ai has no energy left?

Gimme a break...its just early game nerves. Sugiyama looks spent after just a few games!

E. Blackadder
Mar 2nd, 2003, 08:52 PM
these are not early game nerves anymore, she hits top long and wide regular, smashes into the net, misses volleys :o

she is leading despite not playing her best.

doesn't that make the real champion? :worship:

ans
Mar 2nd, 2003, 09:16 PM
yup- and Kim is fine!! She is 4-2 in 2nd set- only people that beat Kim these days is someone name Williams...a player goes off a game or two and you guys have no faith!! Is it the Aus 2003 choke incident?? When was the last time Kim lost to someone ranked below her?? There is no way Ai could win this match because she had an exhausting match earlier and Kim is still better even at her worse!!
I don't find anything better to say than: "you're completely right" ;)

E. Blackadder
Mar 2nd, 2003, 09:17 PM
I've seen Kim miss 2 or 3 smashes, 2 or 3 drive volleys. And she really is slower than normal, otherwise she runs down a lot more balls

She really is playing terrible, never seen her play THIS bad, and yes she lost badly against Ai before.

But now I said it, it's going better.

E. Blackadder
Mar 2nd, 2003, 09:24 PM
If Ai wasn't this tired, Kim would have lost 5-7 4-6.

I'm a kim fan and I would really like to see Ai win this set. She's putting up a fight even though she probably exhausted

As much as I like Kim, I think Ai now deserves the win 10 times more then she does. I hope Kim regroups a bit during the rain delay and makes a statement in the third :fiery:

Next time a Williams fan says Serena was playing badly in the Championships/AO against Kim please remember this thread. All I've seen is Kim is playing badly, Kim is being erratic again. None of Kim fans are saying boy Ai is taking it to her. She sure is making Kim miss. <Not saying that Kim wasn't playing badly> I'm just saying, When your fav is suppose to win and you see them playing below their level you will point that out. That is the truth and its not an excuse and it does not take away from the win, imho.

Even when Serena or Venus play badly they still win you can't say that about the other players. Kim played badly and lost, she has to be always on her A game she cannot take any chances with her game. S/V can play they D game and still win.

I wonder if Kim's shoulder is bothering her again? I hope not.

Ai was totally awesome. She totally deserved her victory. She beat all the top players and also defeated fatigue. Kim tried, but she couldn't pull out the win. When it appeared that Ai was down and out, she popped back and won.

Some notes ont he third set:

Ai came out very fresh and really took the match. She leveled up her game and so did Kim at a certain moment, but AI was to good in the third. Congrats girls, you deserved it

well, i was one saying that Kim would surely win..i watched the match and as many errors as Kim made, Ai played inspiring tennis!! I am not making excuses for Kim but i wonder if the damp weather made her arm hurt- she kept rotating it an awful lot....i haven't really noticed before if this is a habit of hers- what do people that saw the match think? Congrats to Ai on a great week:)

I was thinking the same about her arm when when watching the game. But since she went on to play and win the two doubles matches with Ai afterwards, I guess not. Probably just an off day?
And Ai played terrific of course. Never giving up. Altough I was rooting for Kim, I think Ai really deserved to win. Congrats Ai!

Kim was awfull
