she lost to dokic 5-7 6-7 and i believe the tiebreak was 12-14 in the second set. good match especially if dokic was playing well. it would be a really good sign if dokic was playing well. did anyone get to see the match?

King Aaron

Yup, it was 14-12 in the tiebreak. I think it was a good match because both of them had more winners then unforced errors.

Tough luck Myriam. :(

I think shes around 85ish now,
She doesnt have many points to defend until end US Open, hopefully she can pick up on a few.

Would be very close if Myri stays in the top 100. She'll lose 136 points this week. She thoroughly deserves to stay in the top 100. I'd vote Myri is the one with the toughest first round draws. Bear in mind she hasn't played tournaments like Estoril, Casablanca and Bol. Myri played tier 2's, in the long run she'll get there. She certainly did it the hard way, not the easy way.

Her games quite allround, though her movement/Agility/Speed around the court do with alot of work, Help that she could tend to loose some weight, as that would be weighing her down heaps.

I'm watching Casanova on the Tennis Channel right now. They are showing the 2004 Fed Cup match of hers against Marta Marrero.:eek: She is just smacking the ball left and right for winners.I didn't know she was this good. Also, i heard she had some health issue that prevented her from losing weight. Is that true. If so, it's sad.She could definitely be a top 10 player if she was fit.She reminds me of my favorite player Mary Pierce.Pierce had some weight issues as well.It was only after she got back in shape that she broke into the top 10 in 2005. I wish Miriam the best of luck and hope she is able to successfully make a come back.

Myriam plays swiss events sometimes and will play the swiss national event in 3 weeks (entry list here : http://www.mytennis.ch/upload/docs/events/Entry-List-Damen1.pdf).

A french tennis magazine say this year that both Myriam and MGM maybe try a comeback in 2009-2010...

It's funny but I come from the same village as both of the Casanova sisters...
And I saw them practise today. I even got a short chat with Daniela, the elder one; she said it was her first time on court for more than a year. You could easily remark that. Although she looked a lot fitter than her younger sister, she didn't have point of an answer to Myriam's aggressive play.
They only hit a few balls, but they really play great tennis and they are still young. I think they should try another comeback (or at least Myriam should)

Sep 12th, 2009, 03:30 PM
Yes, they are, but I don't know what they're doing at the moment.

Myriam played the Austrian Club League (which is like Inter Club just for Austria) this weekend...
She participates for Salzburg and they defeated Klagenfurt in their opener 4-3!!

She won her 1st match against Austrian senior Petra Russegger in SS 6-3, 6-2!!
But what surprised me much more was the doubles result!!
She played with Lisa Summerer against TIMOTIC and Zuzana KUCOVA
Summerer had lost to Timotic 0-6, 4-6 in singles, so everyone expected a clear victory for the Klagenfurters.
But... Myriam & Lisa def. their opponents 6-3, 6-2!!!
Kucova is currently top 200..!
Myriam is really in brilliant shape lately, if she restarts her career, she should at least reach the top 200 again!!!

burn
Sep 12th, 2009, 03:33 PM
BTW, Myriam also played Swiss IC!!
She defeated Ivana Lisjak: 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 and Sandra Martinovic: 7-5, 6-1
In addition, she only lost closely to Conny Perrin (4-6, 3-6) and to Xenia Knoll (6-7, 6-3, 3-6)

Semi Finals at Austrian Club League:
Casanova [SUI] def. Cervanova [SVK/SUI] 7-6, 7-6 (Cervanova is a former world #57).
But what I was far more surprised about was doubles:
Nooni/Casanova def. Malek/Hofmanova 6-3, 6-2

Look @ the scores, the others didn't have any chance!!!!!

BTW: Thanks to Myriam's victories, her team def. La Ville 4-3 and is in the final now.
Casanova will probably play Fislova there!

2 articles in german :

Myriam Casanovas neuer Versuch

Myriam Casanova will nochmals angreifen und «nutzen, was mir gegeben wurde».

Turniersiege so nebenbei

Jetzt will sie nochmals angreifen, «nutzen, was mir gegeben wurde», sagt Myriam Casanova.

Myriam Casanova's new attempt

Myriam Casanova wants to attack again and "use what was given to me."

During its five-year break Myriam Casanova has fallen far in the world rankings. The laughter she has not forgotten why. The tennis either. The 25-year Altstätterin is back on the road.

Tennis. Although Myriam Casanova seldom at home: In the sports and fitness center of her father, she knows almost everyone. The "Hello, how are you?" Is usually accompanied by a smile on both sides. Many know Myriam Casanova, since it has a five-year-old father, Leo hit the first balls over the net. 20 years later Myriam Casanova a brief but intense tennis career. "Many people do not think I had stopped for a while," she says. If the word "comeback" is, you is not laughing. She was never officially resigned. And they now wanted to go slow. On the square of which little is seen. "I cut on it likes," says the 25-year-old. "Especially when I'm in the lead." And this is usually the case.

Tournament victories coincidentally
Last year, Myriam Casanova has again denied few international tournaments, which were attended mainly the young behind the top 100. Whether in Wollerau, Zurich and Davos - always upheld the winner Myriam Casanova. As if she had not taken leave for five years from professional tennis. Here, the Rhine Valley, Erin worked at all during the tournaments in the office. "I had a lot of fun with zero effort," says Myriam Casanova.

Now they will attack again, "use what was given to me," says Myriam Casanova. Sitting in the office they could later. "Tennis is now once again my job." Since the fall she trains in the Swiss tennis training center in Biel. And the success continues. In December she won the Swiss championship and two weeks before the international tournament in Fällanden near the Greifensee. Of the last 48 games Myriam Casanova has lost only four. On 16 and 17 April, she is a member of the extended Fed Cup team. In the world ranking is 738th on Place classified.

Myriam Casanova trigger for renewed playfulness was a message on Facebook. She tells how her there was two years ago, "a big tennis fan" wrote, she should play again, which they have been pleased. This developed a close friendship. The good friend she has always encouraged to dare to try again. Now he supports it as a private sponsor.

Work on the physical
Myriam Casanova has grown up. Now would also be their game of "17-year-olds to adult tennis" convert. The lively girl, she has kept the same. She laughs a lot, even about himself: "Sometimes I feel still like a 14-year-old." A cheerful person beside humorless on the court. At least their opponents have little to laugh. Myriam Casanova's greatest opponent is still the physical. At the gym she had to work hard. This is the beginning for them well, the third sentence of her career, and usually costs a lot more power. will, "Success can hold me." At least until the end of 2012 Myriam Casanova on the ball.

Early success, earlier withdrawal

Martina Hingis' mother Melanie Molitor discovered, sponsored by Leo's father and older sister Danielle pulled: Myriam Casanova was considered the new hope in the Swiss women's tennis after the era Hingis and Patty Schnyder. In 2002, she made a breakthrough. At 17, she was number 45 in the world. Six years ago, she turned on because of a metabolic disorder, a break. After the commercial apprenticeship with BMS in Altstätten 2009, she returned back to professional tennis. After just a tournament and, despite the victory against a top 100 player she heard exhausted again. Until the new attempt in the fall, she worked as an assistant in a law firm in Liechtenstein.
