View Full Version : Interesting Kim Statement

SerenaSlam

....in antwerp where i lost to venus, i was playing very well.

i think here we can very much see the difference in when a fan, makes a statement about their player, and then when their player comes out and makes a statement. they say kim was sick, well she was, but like she said "she played very well" in antwerp. I just thought I would bring it up. All based on whether or not Kim was "playing well" against venus even though she was sick.

...oh i probably will have more threads, cuz i think these commentators will be talking about some very interesting things, that we all may end up discussing!

Yes, but she didn't say she played well against Venus. She said she played well in Antwerp, which constitutes her having a good tournament. Be careful what noun you modify and don't misquote people to support your favorites. :wavey:

Regardless, from what I understood Venus played her best match in months against Clijsters, and I'm sure Kim is over it. She'll be okay. ;)

Frankly what I found more interesting was that Clijsters said she is hitting it less hard the last year. I've been saying that for a while now. :D (takes a bow)

Lol, the commentators were all bringing up how kim is challenging the williams sisters, but they never mentioned how just recently venus beat kim quite easily...

And i hope that kim is in vee's half of the draw because people have come up with so many excuses for kim like she was sick when i believe she said herself that she was ok...

Enough already!!!!!!!!!!!

Kim was playing well enough to make it to the finals in Antwerp and well enough to make it to the semis in OZ...guess what?

She lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like a 125 mph Venus serve....she was outta there...sorry if I pissed anyone off, but she lost...there was no plane flying over. No fan waving signs or cell phones going off. There was no ballperson running in the background. She lost. The same way Serena lost in the year end championships....Kim lost...oh well.

If Kim was sick then we would have heard she fell out at the baseline....she didn't...she was fit enough to get her ass whopped and she is fit enough to whoop some ass too. Stop making excuses for the girl........

Do Williams fans even read? No one in this thread said Kim was sick. I haven't seen ANYONE say that Kim was sick. Do you just make things up to seem like the victim? Or don't you read?

Please grow up, man. You seem really unable to accept the fact that people want some like Kimm to stop the Willams domination. You really sound immature. Every post of yours repeats the same thing. I'm sick and tired of your accusing people for overhyping Kim or any other player who can challenge the sisters. Hey, if I were you, I couldn't be happier with the sisters' accomplishments. Why bother? I would like to know why you give such a big shit about what others say?? You might think poeple who think Kim has a chance to beat either of the sisters are fuckin retards or something. We need players to stop the sisters for the sake of tennis for god's sake!!! As long as their domination continues, you will keep whinning about ppl overhyping non-willams players. get a life, dude.

Actually kim isn't trying to stop the sisters or the williams domination. She's trying to win tournaments and become number one. There's a difference. Kim has a head on her shoulders unlike Jen who succumbed to the "gwh" nonsense.

Kim played great in antwerp, Kim got beat. Much like during the summer hard court season of 02 when she faced venus twice in two back to back tournaments. Same two players, same results. Maybe since clay season is coming up kim will have a better chance, she did beat venus last year during hamburg right?

Anyway kim is a sweety and a talented player, I'm sure her grandslam is coming one day unless her father makes her retire at 23 like he said he would.

Well at 23 Kim is an adult, when she gets there, her father should have no control over her. Although it is sad that a lot of players on the tour rely on support from their parents, such as Hingis. Hopefully Kim will be able to think for herself.

I totally understand why parents want to be around when their child is playing underage, but there comes a time when they have to let these young women grow up! Its like they are living through their children at best or at worst controlling them like puppets or money making machines.

STOP TRYING TO LIVE THROUGH YOUR CHILD! GET YOUR OWN FREAKING LIFE!

I agree completely. I would get so mad at Martina when she would be losing and she'd look up at her mom. All that was doing was making thing's worse, because Molitor would act like Hingis commited a mortal sin by missing a shot, and Hingis would become emotionally unstable in a match. Another player like this is Anna Kournikova. :fiery: Two of a kind.

Well I'll give melanie credit because she actually knew what she was doing unlike anna's mom who is just scary. Part of me always suspected that Melanie deep down wished it was her on the court winning grandslams and not her daughter. It was just something about the look she had sometimes in the stands. Oh well with todays technology maybe she can clone herself and then coach herself into a few grandslams :D

But I'm sure Kim knows what she needs right now is improve her game a notch to beat the sisters even if she doesn't admit it. Cuz the only obstacle for her to win a GS is the sisters. They are the only players she has to face as the underdog. She's very unlikely to lose someone ranked bellow her nowadays. Of course she's not the kinda player who underestimates her opponents. You can see her attitude toward every match from her records against lower ranked players. She really wastes no time demolishing those players. Of course, likes of Davenport, Capriati, Seles are always tough for her to beat but compared to the sisters, they are very "beatable". So I think she can focus on how to beat the sisters now. of course she doesnt play tennis just to beat the sisters.

I just want to know why some people get so pissed when someone overhypes Kim. Why bother to prove the sisters are so much better than Kim?? Everyone knows they are far ahead of Kim but it doesn't mean Kim has no chance to catch up to them. She's still improving and in the foreseeable future, she may be in the same league with them. Who knows?? It's good for the sport that people overhype up-coming players cuz that gives us more reasons to follow the sport doesnt it??
Plus, I dont think anyone of Kim's fans ever has done it in an offensive manner.

Mags, who beat Kim at wimbledon? Not Venus, not serena. Mags, who beat Kim at the US Open? Not venus, not serena. Who beat Kim at the French? Not Venus, Not serena.

My point is that there are SEVEN people between Kim and a grandslam not TWO.

Jen thought it was two and look where that attitude took her. Kim is much to smart for that. Beating Two people does not win you a tournament. It just doesn't.

i don't think i sound immature, i think when someone comes in and says "they want kim to stop the williams" and clearly when commentators say "its not in her/their hands to win" its stupid of you to come up w/ something like that, when in the end, you clearly see and know that venus/serena are way better than her.

I have no problem w/ kim clijsters. she is the next best on my list. venus/serena/kim, her warm spirit and all, but I am acting on what some of you people say. it doesn't matter if the sisters are playing kim, justine, cappy, when they eventually beat them, its like you can't give them the credit they deserve, but the first damn question you want to know is, when venus/serena are giving their interviews, why aren't they giving the player their props/credit.

it is very ignorant and stupid as well, when you make these predictions that "kim is sick" and then try and use it as she looses. Kim played well in the tournie, if she didn't play well in the final, im sure she would've stated it, what gets me is, most of u fucks weren't even there at the final, and can still manage to tell me/others how she/they played.

Someone went as far as to say venus played "the match of her life" when clearly venus played the "usual venus". You want to know why I bother w/ what other people say and think, its b/c they either are full of shit, or just like to talk alot shit (gogomaggie), and i think you are thinking the same thing about me right now! The fact that we are fans, and we stick up for our players, is another reason why people are concerend on what other say. And did i/they say she was sick? Not in this thread, but it was mentioned in the antwerp thread.

You can either be "for" the sisters or be "against" the sisters or just "dont 'give a fuck at all", and really I see where you all are coming frm when it is stated that you want someone to step up and challenge the sisters, but come on, do you have to go to the extreme by skipping over the ovbious, and when it's match tyme, b/c the sisters are playing, make these predictions as if the sisters ain't got no "game" and can be taken to 3 sets. Kim is playing good, and I know you all know she was "hyped" up, and when it was time for Venus vs. Kim again, it was like this "new and improved" kim has what it takes to take venus/serena to 3 sets.

But Pam Shriver said it best when she said "Kim Clijsters is the type of player that can "worry" the sisters b/c if they are off and making a lot of errors, kim does good in just getting 1 more ball back". I really didn't want to go all off into why kim can't beat them, but I ended up there. Right now this is the only game kim has against venus/serena "defense" she doesn't have the "offense" part down at all. Like they continue to say about the sisters, they are soo good now, but they can improve so much, the same needs to be said about kim. There is so much in her game that can improve, but w/ the sisters still having the ability to get better, and she isn't even close to them right now, she will for now end up 3rd best.

I think Maggie meant now, in 2003 not in 2002. Kim is in a different level from last year, and the Williams are the only ones that can stop her from winning a grandslam. ex. the Austrailian Open...

I think Kim has improved a lot in the last few months. now tennis wise I think she's as good or possibly a better player than Serena. She just doesn't have the confidence Serena has. That's the only factor that seperates the two girls. In other words, once Kim gains the confidence (which I think she will get by beating Serena once more), Kim will be a constant slaughter of the sisters. I always thought Kim was more talented than anyone on the tour. She just needs to translate it into her game. She improves a notch every match she plays. Without a doubt she's improving much more rapidly than the Willams sisters. it's obvious when you look how much the gap between them has been narrowed in the last few months. If she improves at this rate, she will have been no.1 or at least no.2 by the end of the season.

It might be cause Venus is better than Meghann, in every aspect and forces Kim to make an error, while Meghann hits an error, or Kim hits a winner everytime against her?

Ok so let me get this straight: Saying Kim is the best player in the world is a stupid comment because obviously, the rankings show that Kim isn't number one at the moment yet it's ok for you to say that Jennifer, Lindsay and Justine are better than Kim when the rankings show otherwise

the gap between her and serena has been narrowed b/c serena was "off" her game, and let kim in on the match, thus making it harder, the gap between kim and venus, still is, and always will be huge. There head to head will be very similar to venus vs. justine, clijsters will be stuck on 1 win.

I noticed this too. Venus has to re-establish the respect she deserves! But in defense of the commentators and the media, it's true that the more rivalry, the better for the sport. And in defense of Kim, she gave Serena a serious challenge at the AO (arguably better than what Venus gave her) so she should be considered the most formidable threat to either Sister apart from the other Sister.

and no excuses are ever made when serena loses her matches are they. i can always remember the excuses about serena not playing well, being tired when she lost to schnyder, henin, rubin, and clijsters in 2002.

i agree that people may not openly give the sisters enough credit, but surely you know that is either because it just does not need to be said how good they are, and also because it is very frustrating for people to see their favs outclassed again and again. i don't feel that way because patty plays better against them than most people i think. i actually worry more about players like tina pisnik, mikaelian, and krasnouratskaya!

people who criticise the sisters are fighting a lost battle bc the girls are great players and great people, and i say that as someone who does not support them. williams fans need to stop bitching, because there is no need, you have already had so much joy, and i am sure there is much to come.

anyone who cannot recognise the ability of the sisters is a moron, but clijsters is a genuine threat to the sisters, and that is GOOD for the game.
