Serena

Because If I have to choose between The Williams, I prefer to choose VENUS :D

I wouldn't care if Venus lost to Serena, if I felt Venus didn't *give* the match to Serena. The only time that has happened was 99 Grand Slam Cup and Wimbledon.

Capriati :fiery: , thank God it didn't happen! ;)

I dont think venus gives anything to anyone because doing so would invalidate her sister. It would mean she thinks serena is pitiful and needs her help to win. I dont buy that for one second. The real reason venus has been losing is simply that both girls had problems playing each other. However while serena got over her problem and cleaned up her game venus did not. When venus is mentally ready to strike out at her sister like another competitor she will turn the tide and even things up. she had her chances in aussie land but she was not tough enough on the big points.

Venus didnt give the match to Serena. Shes not as pathetically weak as that, to think she would have to give the match to her sister to make her happy. And she was obviously trying in those matches, but Serena was able to take advantage of her weaknesses.

...anyone other than Serena in a slam.

Otherwise, I don't worry too much about the most famous big sister female athlete in the world losing.

Experimentee and PhoenixStorm, I disagree.

I think Venus *gave* Miami, Paris and New York victories to Serena last year.

Miami and Roland Garros are so obvious, it hurts

Please, if Capriati or Clisjsters had've won by these same scores we wouldnt even be having this conversation about so called "giving away" anything. Thats Bullshyt, and if Venus did do this than I lose respect for her as a player and competitor.

I fail to see what Capriati or Clijsters have to do with Venus/Serena matches :o

I think if you have ever watched Venus play a match, and then you watch the Serena/Venus Miami match you will clearly see TWO different Venus'.

I think a key match is watching Seles' victory over Venus at the 2002 Aussie. Watch that match, and then match the 2002 Miami semis.

An injured Venus in Australia was moving BETTER then a healthy Venus was moving in Miami. :o

Roland Garros...Venus admitted BEFORE the match she felt sorry for Serena having not won a Slam since 99  ;)

I have to agree that Venus gave the match to Serena at 02' Miami, Venus just wasn't playing well at all. But other times they have played, Serena clearly came out on top.

Thanks Mr. Man. I am a little surprised to hear that from you

Here's what I honestly think happened:

Venus gave Serena Miami and Roland Garros, feeling that she would win Wimbledon. However, Wimbledon came, and Serena played unbelievable tennis. That was Serena at her best. I've never seen Serena play that since.

Gave Roland Garros? I dont think so, Serena also played horrible along with Venus. Hell with that logic you can say that Serena 'gave" the Wimbeldon semi to Vee because she felt sorry that Vee hadnt won a GS yet.

I didn't think there was anything off about Roland Garros, until Venus lost the 8 or 9 straight games. Venus has too good of serve and return to lose that many games. And her reaction afterwards as well was an indication. And the fact that she said she felt sorry for Serena BEFORE the match. It just all added up.

Wimbledon semis? No, I think that was one of their better matches. It made no sense for Serena to tank that match. She needed to win to play singles at the Olympics ;)

There was really nothing for Venus to gain by winning the title in Paris...except for the title itself. Serena on the other hand, had a lot to lose by losing.

Sure it made sense, (I dont think it was tanked either but just an example) Venus had just come back from injury and everyone was saying that she wouldnt win because she wouldnt get past Serena who had been playing great. Plus everyone was questioning Venus abilities since Serena was the first to win a major while Vee hadnt won one. Then Viola Vee wins their match (I'm sorry but Serena played absolutley horrible in that match, she couldnt even keep the ball in play half the time.) Vee goes on to win the tournement and the questions go away, Venus wins another slam and gets a 40 mill contract blah blah blah.

Now my question is is this gonna become a regular occurence the die hard vee fans everytime Venus plays bad in a match against her sister that we are gonna hear this Venus "gave" bullocks? I hope not, if your off your off. Serena is a professional tennis player who deserves more respect than that. She doesnt need Venus help to win anything. Serena was clearly off in the US Open 2001 final, but what do you hear? "Oh it was just the big sister beating up on the little sister" hogwash. You whine that she gave the US Open final to Serena too? I fail to see this as Venus was nearly ousted by Rubin in the fourth round and struggled against Mauresmo in the semis, while Serena was in considerably better form in that tournement. BTW, can you find a direct quote by Venus stating that she felt sorry for Serena in anything.

Is it going to become a regular thing? For me it will if Venus continues to tank, which is everyone's own opinion.

I think, personally, people who "refuse" to believe the tanking theory are those who are die-hard Serena fans. If you watch ANY match Venus plays vs. a match Venus plays against Serena, there is clearly a difference.

US Open...Venus had a tougher road to the finals, no question. However, Davenport pushed Serena harder in the second set then Venus did in the entire match. Now, are you saying Davenport can return and serve better then Venus? If you are, then you clearly have issues.

Direct quote...I believe it was during the Roland Garros telecast on NBC. But I'd have to go watch again.

:D Normally I would be too. But I'm at the point in my fanhood when I can accept a loss. She's only human. I just don't like when she tanks to Serena. Venus and Serena are so close in talent and ability that one shouldn't be dominating the other, as Serena "has".

Well my opinion is that those who dont believe that Serena can get a legitiamite win over Venus just like any other professional tennis player on the tour are just die hard Venus fans that think that Venus is not supposed to lose and those people have issues. I am done with this subject because Serena will keep on proving on the court that she is not just some sideshow. :)

Anyone who thinks Venus tanked matches to Serena is the one with serious ISSUES. Serena WON her matches against Venus fair and square.

I could see how some has that point of view if the only Venus matches you've seen are against Serena ;)
