Tough vote for me, because there was something special in each year.

99--Hingis last slam; The unbelievable French Final; Graf's retirement; Serena's first Slam

00--Venus' unbelievable year

01--Jennie's comeback; the start of the Williams Domination at the US Open

02--Jen's Aussie Open victory

But, I voted for the 2001 season, because Venus actually tried in all of her matches.

Highlights for me:

Aussie Open Quarters: Jen def. Monica 57 64 63.
Jen was down 75 42, and battled. Unbelievable match.

Aussie Open Finals: Jen def. Martina 64 63
Great to see Jennifer finally put everything together, in a great match. Probably the best match Jen ever played.

Indian Wells Finals: Serena def. Kim 46 64 62
Great to see the champion in Serena, overcoming the crowd to capture her first of three titles in 2001.

Ericsson Open Finals: Venus def. Jen 46 61 76
One of the greatest comebacks in recent history. 8 match points for Jennifer. The one thing I really remember was CBS' terrible coverage of the match.

Roland Garros, the entire event:
What made this such a memoral event, for me was the fact that so many top players were out. Seles, Kournikova, Davenport didn't show up. Venus, Arantxa, Martinez all lost early. But the semi finals and finals made up for it in the end.

Wimbledon Semis Justine def. Jen 26 64 62
The Cinderella story of Jennfier came to an end. Justine failed against Venus in the finals, but it was one of the great "upsets" of the year.

Acura Classic
Monica def. Jen 63 63
Monica def. Martina 63 64
Venus def. Monica 62 63
Monica's amazing week. Her second event back from injury, and she takes out Capriati in straight sets [her first straight set loss of the year], and then Hingis. Venus played one of her best matches EVER against Moncia in the final. Just great tennis.

New Haven: Venus plays 3 matches in 24 hours
Venus def. Justine 63 57 62
Venus def. Jen 64 76
Venus def. Lindsay 76 64
Because of rain, Venus had to play her quarter, semi and final in about 24 hours. And she only lost one set. Amazing.

US Open--All Williams
Venus didn't lose a set in route to her second US Open. Serena made her first final since 99 US Open. It began...but it was also the start of the tanking [IMO ;) ]

Davenport's Domination in the Fall
Lindsay proved she was the best Indoor player, winning all of the indoor events she played, leading into Chase Championships. The saddest part was Hingis' injury. Because she didn't defend her title, Jen went to #1.

Sanex Champs:
Jen losing to Sandrine was the highlight, for me. It was a great match. Jen needed to win to end the year #1, but it wasn't meant to be.
Serena won in a default, was a crappy way to end the year though.
