Didn't realize that Serena had really passed up Lindsay. I hadn't checked them out in a minute. Lookin good for Serena! She has gone 48 straigh weeks! She is about hold the number 1 rank for 1 year straight. I never would've thought that. At first I figured she would hold it about the same time as venus, but she is on this hot streak, and is really maintaining it! Keep it up serena!

Wait a minute! Did not Serena become #1, Jul 9 2002? If so how did you get that number? It can not be accurate.
Feb 24th, 2003, 03:47 PM
Yes, she has not been #1 for 48 weeks yet.
Feb 24th, 2003, 03:47 PM

I think the statistic from SerenaSlam is from tenniscorner.net, I saw this one also. It seems to me that Serena has 48 weeks the No.1 Spot for sure. So there seems no possibility, that anyone can catch the No.1 ranking before the 48 weeks are over.
Feb 24th, 2003, 04:04 PM
ahh.....i see what you mean, so they are giving her the 48 right now, so they don't have to keep changing/udating them. so she does have 48, but she doesn't...wierd.
Feb 24th, 2003, 07:28 PM
48 would mean we are maybe 2 weeks away from Wimbledon. It's more likely 34.
Feb 25th, 2003, 12:20 PM
Yes, it's 34...but she will be (future tense) #1 for at least 48 weeks. Meaning, mathmatically nobody can catch her until at least after Roland Garros is over.
Feb 25th, 2003, 03:51 PM
C'mooon Serena! Let's catch Steffi :p :p
Feb 25th, 2003, 03:56 PM
That's huge, if she wouldn't play for 14 weeks and Vee would win all tournaments in the mean while, Serena would still be number 1?
Well okay, having 3 GS victories, I guess it's normal....

I bet Tenniscorner was giving her 48 weeks because that is probably the next time when she could lose the #1 rank.
