I didn't see this coming, with Jenny's less than steller year so far. Daniela--you're going in the wrong direction. Time to get in the gym!

Yep. Take off Scottdale points and Daniela is top 5 again.

The big problem for Daniela is that even if she defends her title in IW (which is far from being granted) she will fall again in the rankings :(

I love Daniela but her play as of late does not warrant a top 5 position. She really should be 8 or 9. She does need some weight for strength. There is no way she can stand up to Vee or Ree at 120 pounds or Jen, Lindsay either for that matter. :o

Hopefully, we will see a more prepared and in-shape Daniela in IW and Key-Biscaine.

Daniela's record isn't any worse than Jen's, most of her losses were against a Williams sister. Jen only has 2 wins all year.

I find it strange that Daniela's not playing this week. Would've been a good chance to add some points before her IW defense.

I think it's OK if Daniela reduces her rhythm of competition. She's to go for quality now rather than quantity.
BTW I'm not so sure Daniela is yet caring that much for this top 5 stuff, she got ranked #5 almost by chance. She will be more stable in the top 5, I believe, in the mid season, around RG and Wimbledon.
But Indian Wells is the most important right now. It's a big test for her as a top player.
And next to IW, she's got to make far better than last year in Miami too.
