There are so many young girls out there who are making a splash on the WTA tour!

Who are your picks to challenge the very best week in and week out?

What do you guys think of:

Myriam Casanova
Svetlana Kuznetsova
Dinara Safina
Angelique Widjaja
Marion Bartoli
Ashley Harkleroad

I don't know too much about Kuznetsova, and I haven't seen any of these girls playing in person. I'm hoping they are all at IW. Casanova is pretty talented, but she needs to get in better shape.

Bartoli is a little... witch... But, some competitive fire is a good thing.

Isn't Harkleroad a little light on power?

Safina... temper temper temper.

Marion just lost in the first round of qualies in Scottsdale -- I root for Marion all the time, but I sure don't see her in the top 10.

I see none of that group challenging for the top 10 any time soon, actually. Maybe Safina in a few years; of that group, I believe she is most likely to get there.

Angelique Widjaja
Marion Bartoli
Ashley Harkleroad

these girls won't do it week in week out but might every now and then.

Myriam Casanova
Svetlana Kuznetsova
Dinara Safina

these probably will and add zvonareva, sharapova, golovin, petrova, lina k and krajicek. but it doesn't mean they'll be top 10

but from the results this year that they have had, they have a lot to learn and need to be consistent. i don't really see any of them challenging the top 10 until 2005. if they are lucky they might challenge ranks 9 and 10 next year but certainly not this year.

Miss Bovina... I've mentioned why in the other 214324234 threads like this.

Casanova- Haven't seen much of her... she has the power, but doesn't have the mobility to be a top player. I see her maybe Top 20 at best.

Dinara Safina- She's got a pretty good chance at making the Top 10.. she's got a very powerful game, and she's a good athlete. She does have mental lapses... but remember that she's only 16. Lot of potential in her.

Angie Widjaja- She just doesn't have the weapons to be a top player today. If she continues to work hard, she has a chance at Top 20.

Harkleroad- I really don't see what's so great about her. She has no power, and hasn't impressed me at all when I've seen her. She's not all that pretty either.

Kuznetsova- I've only seen her in doubles... so I can't say much.

Bovina is a few years ahead of these girls.

imo, soon the top 15 will be just as hard to beat as the top 10 for the players outside the top 15-25. and that is just if you add bovia and daniilidou into tthe top 15. these others e.g. petrova, lina k, zvonareva, casanova, safina, kuznetsova, mikaelianl sharapova, douchevina, they will probably be just as hard to beat as well. within 2-3 years i would expect the top 25 to be way above the rest of the field rather than just the top 10.

imo, it remains to be seen that the players that should get in the top 25 soon will compete with the top 10. for awhile i would expect the top 10 to be above these players apart from maybe the players ranked 11 and 12.

or maybe the future of tennis is inconsistency?
