I got this idea from the other thread that involved bitch slapping....

A brawl is a fight that just can't be won easily and has to be taken by all means necessary. Right now only three such matches come to mind. They all involves Venus of course.

1. Venus defeating Hingis in USopen 2000 in the semis...great match with Venus falling and still hitting a winner.

2.Venus defeating Justine Henin after being down 2-6 4-0 in the Amelia Island final last year.

My vote is Jen and venus in the finals of erricson in miami in 2001.
That is a real knock down drag out fight.

There are other matches like Serena and Jen and Serena and Lindsay, but Venus and her matches stand out more often and leaves a lasting impression on me.

Venus is just a fighter to the end, no matter who she plays.

Except Serena.:o

I agree, Venus was just not going away heehee... I was sooooooo beat down from being in the sun all this time(I even lost my voice  --- I don't want to imagine how Vee and Jen felt when all was said and done.

what about the Henin and venus match at Amelia Island last year? It seems that venus being down 2-6 0-4 and then forcing a tie break and to end up in another one in the third set was the ultimate match. Unlike the capriati final in miami, There were a lot of errors but in the henin match, there were more than enough amazing shots and it left both players in awe of each other.

Yes I was there junkartist.. It's the only tournament I can attend annually(I'm making an exception this year though) maccardel, I agree, but the conditions Amelia Island were nothing like Key Biscayne ...

maccardel , I did not see that match(follwed it though), but I heard that Ameile vs Venus at Gaz de France last year was also a brawl.. Amelie was a set and 1 game from the finals when Venus suddenly stole her thunder. The results 4-6 7-6(3) 7-5

My favorites have been. Venus and Martina 99 semi, and 00 final. Spirlea of Course. Monica's matches against Jen & Steffi. But Jen and Serena since 00 have had the best rivelry IMO.(after Venus and Martina). Damn I just enjoyed them all.

Jen & Vee at Ericson was a good match, but it really wasn't till near the end when it got into a good fight. IMO

My favourite was when Arantxa beat Serena at the 1998 French Open. They HATED each other during that one! Lots of eye-balling and gamemanship:) ASV was a set and 5-2 down and won in three hours:)

Justine was was up a set and 4-0 then Venus won four straight games to tie it up..justine went ahead 5-4 then venus came back and tied it again...Venus finally won the second set after many deuces.

In the third set venus took command and went up something like 3-0, then Justine came back and tied it up forcing another tiebreak...it was just remarkable tennis....Bud collins said it was the kinda match that made every tennis fan proud to be a tennis fan.
