Hello!

I have additional copies of the European(PAL) release of "WTA Tour Tennis" This is the game that was NOT released in the US. it has 100 tennis players and a world tour of 60+ tournaments with a career mode spanning 10 seasons on the WTA circuit. It is an entirely different PS2 game than the one released here in the US. I converted the game from PAL to NTSC. The game is great and the thread that talks about the game is 30 pages long.

It *WILL* play on your PS2 and you will *NOT* need a modchip for the PS2. You will *NOT* need a PAL TV either. All you will need is a Gameshark CD (about $25-$40, depending where you get it) and a small paper clip or object. It is really simple, you just manually push the lever on the PS2 and inssert the WTA game and push the lever back. It's very easy to do and you do not need to modify yor PS2 or open it up.

I will provide the CD and instructions on how to "swap trick" the PS2 into playing the game. The whole process takes about 2 minutes longer to boot up the game and then it runs fine

I have plenty of eBay references and I am a trusted verified paypal member. I am charging $20 for the game, shipping included. If you have any questions, please PM me! Thanks!

Sports fans who yearn for tennis action all year round can get their hands on the world’s best players in WTA Tour Tennis.
Players on offer include Jelena Dokic, Jennifer Capriati, Serena Williams, Lindsay Davenport, Monica Seles and Martina Hingis, each complete with their real life strengths and weaknesses.
And if you ever get bored of playing with Jelana Dokic you can create your own player and enter them into the career mode to work their way through the ranks and become number one.

Im interested Keith :D. But y is gameshark necessary?

This game has 20 pros and 20 unlockable pros. Once you beat the "unlocked" pro, you can rename them and use them in exhibition competitions. Because of licesning, the unlocked pros have names like Vanessa Willis, Elena Demetradze, Anna Kleinova etc., but then you can rename them!

Keith

Gameshark is necessary because the PS2 will not recognize a cd-r or a game from outside the region. Once the gameshark cd has been loaded, you bypass the ps2 having to read the disc. Otherwise, the ps2 would tell you that the game is not a valid ps2 disc

What does PM stand for. Also, can you make up yor own years. For example, can you go in the future 5 years from now.

PM is private message.

Under my name here, it says PM, click it and it sends me a message.

Well, you can rename some players, and the years are not set in stone, it just says year 1, year 2, year 3 etc,.

I have logged all of my matches and my head to head meetings. I am currently in my 6th year as a pro and have saved all my records: tourneys won, head to head records, ranking etc.,

To all those people in America that want the BEST (and most realistic) tennis game, I thoroughly recommend this one. I have Sega Sports Tennis (aka Virtua Tennis 2 in Europe & Australia) and it is very good, esp for inexperienced gamers. But this version of WTA Tennis is much more realistic in terms of gameplay and the world tour. And you have so many more players to choose from.

I just played an exhibition doubles Hingis (me) & Arantxa v Venus & Lindsay on Hard mode and we just got walloped 6-2, 6-0. But I loved it! We had one double fault, 6 unforced errors and no aces. Lindsay & Venus had 3 aces and 1 double fault with 5 errors. There were many great rallies, but also many quick points. This game is very realistic. Whereas I find in Sega Tennis everyone plays the same and there isn't as much variety with the gameplay. Don't get me wrong, I like it a lot, but I love this version of WTA Tennis. But you have to remember the graphics are nowhere near as good, but that isn't the point. The gameplay and the world tour excellent!!! The best tennis game out there.

Well I just had another game of doubles, this time on 'Normal' mode instead of hard and Hingis (me) & Monica beat Lindsay & Venus at Rome on Clay 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) ! We came back from 2-5 in the final set and saved a match point at 4-5. It was very exciting - LOL.

Stats:
Aces Them - 3, Us - 2
Double Faults Them - 3, Us - 0
Unforced Errors Them - 11, Us - 19
Total Points Them - 101, Us - 98 (they won more points than us)
Service Speed Max Them - 190, Us - 156
Break Points Them - 9/11 Us - 8/15

Anyway, just wanted to say it was one of the best matches I have ever had on this game. Oizo put me onto playing doubles exhibitions and it's great fun. Thanks Oizo :)

thanks Craig for the mini-review! It is a great game! I do think its the best tennis game ever - mainly because of the realistic world tour mode!

To anyone that still wants the game, please PM me your email address, so I can send you all the info you will need. Thanks!

The game has the following players right away:
Capriati, Hingis, Davenport, Serena, Justine, Dokic, Sugiyama, Julie Halard, Dom Van Roost, Aranxta, Lucic, Srebotnik, Seles, Testud, Lina Krasnoroutskaya, Coetzer, Cara Black, A. Stevenson, Anke Huber

Some of the unlockable players (they become unlocked once you beat them in the world tour) Venus, Mauresmo, Pierce, Tauziat, Conchita, Schett, Kuti-Kis, Dementieva, Date,Kournikova, and many more plus some retired players you unlock by attaining career goals (number one, winning grand slams, winning tournaments etc..,) and those retired players include Novotna, Sabatini, Graf, Navratilove and Evert. Its strange, ive never been very impressed with the game...it does offer plenty of depth, and it is I think the only game to feature the wonderful Julie Halard...

But the graphics are weak and the play sluggish and unresponsive....

Sega's virtua tennis games are light years ahead in terms of graphics and gameplay.

Chris Ba - are you serious? The play sluggish and unresponsive????? So untrue... unless you are thinking of Pro Tennis WTA Tour which is moonball madness.

This game has some of the best gameplay, and can be very fast. In fact there are times in exhibition mode when I think it's a little too fast! Sure, when you start out in the World Tour your player is very low in skills and it seems a little slow to start. But once you start winning (and a little training along the way) your skill levels go up and the action starts to speed up. Not only that, most of your opponents have different styles... some belt the sh!t out of the ball, some do drop shots and little angles and lobs, some serve & volley etc etc. The gameplay is THE BEST of the lot. And I have just about every tennis game on every platform. Including Virtua Tennis 2 (Sega Sports Tennis). Anyway each to their own.

You can tell it's a popular and long lasting game as the thread I started over a year ago is still running and has over 1500 posts and 15,000 views and is still going strong. Threads regarding the other games just dissapear after a few posts.

Anyway, each to their own. IMO this is the best tennis game yet produced, and the only downfall is that the graphics are not quite as good as a few of the other games. But looks are only skin deep as we all know. LOL

As you say, each to their own...I desperately wanted the game to be good...being as I say, the only game to feature Julie HD, I couldn't wait to play it...but after being spoilt playing the glorious Virtua Tennis on the Dreamcast, I was disappointed by the PSOne standard visuals, and the controls which weren't instinctive, plus the fact that I only seemed able to play as Julie in the exhibition mode.

Typical... someone tries to spoil it when a person is trying to help tennis fans out. Who cares if it is illegal. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone. All it is doing is allowing some desperate gamers in the USA the opportunity to play a game that otherwise they would never be able to get. I think Keith will get brownie points off God for helping others. :)

tennisvideos, I am very interested in this game. I visited and posted (recently) on the topic in GM for the game. I am in the US and can't get the PAL verison any other way I just don't see why I am paying $20 for a copy of a game. That is just one less official copy bought and one less reason for developers to produce great games like this. And no, most warez don't really hurt anyone, heck I use them once in a while. That said, I will be buying the game from Keith (hopefully). lol I don't want to open my PS2 to add a mod chip and blow it up. I wonder if there is anyway I can buy the gameshark CD cheaper. This is getting to be really $$$

Keith
Apr 30th, 2003, 04:31 AM
truth be told, I spent over $200 on this game. I bought the game for $80 from europe and I had to play it on a pal tv, which cost me about 160...I don't remember...but anyway...I tinkered with the game to get it to play on my ntsc tv and I mean, it took me like 4 months...and I finally did it. This MY hard work that did it...I did not buy it from some guy for a dollar or two...so, yeah, $20 for a cd-r, but the alternative is way more expensive. Im just trying to recoup a little of my loss and give everyone the chance to play this game, cuz I know they want to, and I would have preferred that.

And gameshark 2 is pretty cheap now..I have seen it at second hand stores like funcoland or gamestop for like $15

Hi Jarret

$20 will cover some of the time and expense that Keith has had to forego eg. cost of disc, postage, and his labour and time spent on making the disc. From my perspective it's as cheap as chips and a bargain. It doesn't really mean one less official copy bought, coz there would be very few people in the USA buying a PAL version of the game anyway as it just won't work with a modification to their PS2.

I hope you get the game off Keith. It is a great game - forget the graphics which are OK.. the gameplay and depth of the world tour more than makes up for this.

I am sure Keith will give you all the help you need to get it working without blowing up your PS2. LOL

Have fun

See, I keep seeing this and I think, "this is the same game we played on xbox" - everything else was awesome (monica's grunt was loud as hell!), but the players moved slow and the strokes the movement - looked weird and off. And the ball was like half lob stuff. I was just not happy with the player and ball speeds. But the big question for me is, I have heard that when the player get stronger, the ball and movements get faster? They made Monica look like a hog - she does not look like that. I might as well go get a PS2 though - cause I can go ahead and buy the "smash court" game also. I was looking up reviews and photos images earlier - and I would like to try that one also just to see how that one is. Might as well - Monica is in it! I choose my next Game systems by the tennis games. :) I still love my Sega "2k2" , but I want to see the others as well.

Hello again R&J

Yes, the gameplay on the world tour in WTA Tennis can be a little slow at the start. But as you start to win a little and your skills get better the game quickens up. I am still improving my skills after 8 months with this game. Thats the good thing about this game.

But in exhibition mode it is fast action right from the start! Esp doubles too - it's great.

The moonball game you are talking about on x-box is the same as the one on PS2 - but it is different from the game that Keith is advertising, and the one I recommend for you.
