could be. but we don't know how much time she does spend with him so we shouldn't assume anything. the more likely reason is that what she is working on will take awhile to reap the results.

bingo Gowza. finally someone who know's what they're talking about. it takes time to see really good results immediately after hiring a new coach. and how could a bf hold you down???? i mean look @ Kim. well she's not a really good example coz her boyfriend his a tennis star. ok take Andy Roddick for example. he's going out with Mandy Moore who's more known than he is and that isn't hindering his results. just give her some time man

Possibly, but more likely he is keeping her sane at the moment. She has a lot of crap to deal with

There is no reason but one for this (I wouldnt even call it a "slump". that is she is merely not good enough to compete at the top. How many top ten players has she beaten in her carrer? has she done anything big at all? She won all her titles without beating a great. whatever new thing she tried, I dont think that would make much of a difference in her game. I would be surprised if she stayed in the top 10 thruout the season.

That guy isn't really cute... Jelena should be doing better than that.

And I don't know what that hole in her sweater is...

It looks like her hand is resting on the table in front of her jumper

"My coach and I have been working very hard on changing and improving my game but that is not evident at the moment. It will talk at least 3 - 6 months for the effect to be noticed"

jelena has beaten pierce 3 times (6-4 6-3, 6-2 6-0 and one other time), hingis twice (6-2 6-0, 6-4 6-3), clijsters twice, capriati, coeter about 3 times, venus 6-1 6-2 in 2000, mauresmo 7-6 6-1 in the rome final, rubin, testud, tauziet, henin and maleeva.

and you say she hasn't beaten any greats?

her wins over Mary came post-French 2000, didn't they?

And I mean, Coetzer? a big win? Seriously?

But don't worry. I don't agree with Gogomaggie. jelena has a fine record, and deserves her slot in the top ten. however, what is all this slump talk about? She's 2-2. had a couple QF losses to Raymond and Daniilidou. jelena has always had mediocre results like these peppered with the good stuff. Also, it took her until April to get untracked last year (aside from the paris final). I think people need to quit pushing the panic button.

I agree with KL, especially when she's trying to change her game.

KL: She did defeat Mary at Wimbledon 1999, 6-4 6-3 in the 4th Round :)

i knew that, now that I think about it. But the other two were afterwards, no?

Yes, the two were last year.

Jelena also beat Graf in an exhibition match, albeit in early 2000.

It doesnt matter who she beat for she won titles on all surfaces as a teenager, showing versatility and a very strong game. Not many players have achieved that. Anyway her first title was a tier1, not a bad start and she did win another tier1 later in that same year :)

as people have said shes 2-2 and lost two quarter finals. Its not like you would expect too much of someone whod only played a few matches this year against people who had been playing since January. AND , the changes in her game will take time.

Jelena :hearts: as always

No, I don't think Enrique is hindering her game or distracting her. I agree with both Rosh and KL. And thanks for the quote Rosh. :)

oh and her bf is definately no where near her calibre in the looks department or success (?), but we all know Jelena is not that superficial. ;)

They all stand for wins, but everyone knows there are *stories* behind her "big" victories.

Her 61 62 victory over Venus...it was Venus' FIRST or SECOND event back after SIX months off

Her 62 60 victory over Hingis....it was a few weeks after the roughest [possibly with exception to the 02 OZ final] match of Hingis' life--and her mother conflict.

Her 64 63 victory over Hingis...it was Hingis' first event back after 6 months off?

Again, not the win still counts, but *still*

just my opinion

 Oh my gosh , what a sexylicious , hot muthafucka. :hearts: I should definitely send him a happy Valentine´s day e-card or a happy Valentine´s day SMS. ;) He looks like Mr. Pimpdaddy himself... wow. He´s too hot for sweet Jelena to handle. LOL
Anyway I think he is not the reason why she´s been playing so bad lately although I must admit she spent over a month in Brazil to celebrate christmas and new years eve with him and his family so I think she hardly had time to play tennis. Maybe she just needs to play some tournaments to get back in her old routine. :D

That is her hand resting in a folding position . You know how you wear those sweaters and when you fold your arms you can't hardly see your arms cause it blends in with your sweater. lol

Anyway, Jelena will be fine. Too soon to call it a slump. I think the guy is good for Jelena and vice versa. She looks happy.
