Jelena Dokic

Jennifer Capriati

Both these players have had nagging losses to lesser players and cant quite find their form. And with the likes of Chanda Rubin and Elena Bovina nipping at their heels to get into the elite, will these players say sayonara to the top? And if so, which one first?

Dokic can say bye-bye come Rome
Capriati can say adios come Charleston

Welcome Back Chanda!
Come on in Elena!

:p

Seriously, whats up with these two?

Capriati played poorly because she didn't have enough prep time after her eyes were fixed. She said she really played the aussie open because she was the defending champ. She'll be back on top real soon. I think Dokic has too many other things going on in her life like her father and which country she should play for next week.

Both better clean it up soon, or they will both :wavey: to the top 10.

I can honestly see Dokic leaving, but Capriati sticking around.

Another stupid thread by a huge Williams fan who takes pleasure at taking cheap shots at other players, esp. Jenn. GET A LIFE YOU A-HOLE! Neither one of these players, esp. Jenn is going anywhere. Jenn has a couple of bad matches due to - hello- EYE surgery (last time I checked being able to see was a really big part of playing tennis), and all of a sudden she's out of the top 10 GROW UP! Start threads to chear on your Williams girls, but leave my Jenn the FUCK alone!:fiery:

I think this thread has a very valid point, and if you can't see it you must be delusional.

This is not just about Jen's losses to Panova and Weingartner. It goes back to last year when she lost to Alexandra Stevenson TWICE, and Conchita Martinez. She should be beating them rather easily, yet lost to them easily. Also, the fact that Mauresmo, Serena, Venus, and others seem to have her number.

As for Dokic, she has been in a slump for about half the year. Ever since her loss to Bovina at the Open, she has been in a funk.

Well said pcornille. As for those other loses, they were at the end of the year indoors. Jenn doesn't play great at the end of the year most of the time and hates playing inside.

ok first of all, can you give Dokic some time to ajust please. WTF to u expect her to win all the time after like 3 months off, and she's with a new coach and she's trying to change her game and it can't change in an instant. second of all, she isn't really slumping. hey compare Jen and Jelena in 2003, and who actually WON a match????? and dont gimme that bull about Jen's eyes because it's 100% bull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and besides Jelena had 200+ points over Myskina who is right behind her, and as a matter of fact, why don't u put in Seles for that matter becasue if she fails to defend her title she's pretty much outta the top 10. and three, Dokic has absolutely nothing to defend til her defence of her title, and Jen has beaucoup points to defend, so we can all say sayonara to Jen Cap.

Jelena has the potential to be a top 5 player...but she plays too many tournaments...and has a lot of family problems. I can't see her having a lot of sucess until she sorts these things out.

what a pathetic thread...

First of all this isn't hating on Jen. She's a fantastic player, and its a shame that her resume isnt closer to Monicas and close to Davenports when she and Moni were destined to be rivals for the big ones. Guess that didnt work out.

Being a Williams fan is irrelavent. If you look at the numbers, she hasnt been doing so well. Her serve is erratic, shes making careless errors and she doesnt seem to believe in herself much. Did you not see her match against Mauresmo at the UsOpen? She could see just fine. Or in Toronto the week or two before? When it came to close out against Serena she hit a drop shot into the middle of the service box A DROP SHOT against Serena??!! What was that about?? She showed why she was a competitor, but also why she will only remain a competitor, and not a contender. We'll see how she fares next week in Dubai, but this is a very valid point. Eyes or not.

As for Jelena, she should be where Hantuchova is right now. It isnt her fault she has family issues, but she has the power to end them. She needs to get her but to Florida, and put a restraining order on pops. Anyway, thats not my place. However i can say that she has been playing Top 50 tennis since Flushing Meadows.
Shes tanked so many matches its rediculous. If shes having family issues she shouldnt play.

As for Moni, the ankle caused her ranking problems, not her play. Shes playing just fine and seems very confident. Don't expect her to go anywhere.

I think some of you need to be more analytical and step aside as a fan, and look at the hard numbers. If people did so, we'd get along so much better.

Jen and Jelena's record since the US Open is pretty upsetting:

Jen:
3-6

Jelena:
9-10
