View Full Version : Was the Men's Final Boring?

With all the talk about how boring All-Williams finals are, I was just wondering if those naysayers felt the same way about Agassi's walk-in-the-park, "hard-fought" victory last night?

Has anyone heard anything regarding the TV ratings for either the Women's or the Men's final?

Thoughts anyone?

I didn't see the men's final, I would have watched it if it was Andre vs Andy. But I can imagine that it was very boring based on the scoreline.

As for the williams final, i thought it was entertaining because up until the end you couldn't know who would win. Sure it wasn't a classic match in terms of quality, but it was very entertaining.

I thought both finals were great. Agassi's was predictable, but he played such great tennis it was more like an exhibition of perfect baseline dominance. Kinda like the matches with Lee and Grosjean and Ferreira. The womens final was the more entertaining though, because of the quality and drama.

I am soooo tired of seeing either Andre or Pete in every men's GS final. :) LOL

it was kinda boring, but just because about every singlehuman being could have predicted who was gonna win. i mean we watched some excellent tennis but it was just a little too one sided. the only reason why the all Williams final was abit more entertaining was because it was going back and forth and not just straight forward, but i would rather watch the men's finals and watch some REAL tennis, and not 5000 UE's

LOL@ junkartist - Some people just do not know how irrational they sound when they are supporting some idiotic, smallminded rationale.

TeeRexx - They know they're being irrational. But all the Williams-haters have left is trying to undercut our enjoyment. Their every champion has been cast down, worse, Serena taunted them twice by waiting til way down in matches to start playing, and worst of all, Venus and Serena now have the CAREER 'All-Williams final'.

Like cockroaches without a rock to hide under, or perhaps ankle-biters trapped in a universe of thigh-high boots, their are reduced to making very faint, and even more pathetic, whining noises.

THE SUPPORTERS of other players have sound creditable arguements on why we should keep an eye on their faves. But the anti-Williams crowd has been left with nothing. Not even a fig leaf. Nothing but a cup of unflavored bile, riven with the acids of their own hatred.

Couldn't happen to nicer people.

well yeah i did watch it,and i was on the phone and was LMAO with my friend on the hpone,i was constantly flipping to something else and just coming back to check the scores. i was only watching because i wanted to know if Venus would have won and i would have loved to see her face when she won and her sister's face in defeat. but when i watched the men's finals, i didnt change once,so!

Good god, do some of you ever listen to the vile crap that you spew out? Pointing out both sides of the crap slinging in this thread, btw.

Moving on:

I didn't see the men's final, I would have watched it if it was Andre vs Andy. But I can imagine that it was very boring based on the scoreline.

Well this is only my opinion, but I fail to see why Andy would have given a better match.

He's never won a set off of Andre - and while stranger things have happened, I just can't see how if he had struggled to get past Rainer he would have had ANYTHING left to give Andre a good match.

Given head to heads, and level of play - I see no reason that Andy would have done any better than Rainer did.

It was one-sided more than anything. You didn't feel Agassi was challenged at all. He was in total control of the match and vastly the best player on the day. But I didn't think it was boring, Agassi was playing well and Rainer was trying hard... and it didn't last enough to be boring anyway ;)

disappointing because Rainer was playing better in the first two sets than the score suggest. basically pretty boring but so was the women's final. I love watching boring finals.

The women's final was more dramatic and I really wanted to see Venus win. But pure tennis quality-wise it didn't have that much to offer.

The men's final by far had better tennis and it was interesting for me to see Agassi's executing his nearly perfect baseline game against Rainer.

Yes, Naldo watched both...but I think preference is given to men's tennis over women's by Naldo.

Btw, That's the definition of "rather" junkartist. It was not like the women's and men's final were being played at the same time and Naldo watched the women over the men.

Same thing with me, I enjoy watching both the men and the women play. But if I could only watch one I would definitely choose men's tennis over women's tennis. The amount of UE's in women's tennis can be annoying (especially when Serena, the world's #1, gets erractic and sprays balls everywhere).

But, I still love tennis as a sport, so I guess it's all good for me. :)
