Ajde is not a stupid player, she's simply one of the kind. :sobbing: Just look at her matches against Woz last year. In Dubai she played the most brainless match ever, then in IW she looked like a very smart player. And Woz played on the same level both times.

Strokes are happening to younger adults all the time. I think the youngest stroke I saw in the hospital was a guy in his 30s. Yep they are caused by the above things you mentioned. Ischaemic stroke is the most common with a blockage of the blood supply to the brain, but plenty of other factors such as lifestyle (diet, alcohol, smoking), diabetes, heart problems etc.

Edit: As per Cajka's post, hopefully it'll turn out to be the latter.

I saw a lot of terrible declines on the stroke unit. The worst was when I found my patient unresponsive (he was having a cardiac arrest). He died a few days later.

I don't ;) It's where I was placed for my second year placement! It was my physical placement. First year I was in mental health community (older adults). So final year should either be physical community or mental health (hospital). Not sure yet. We won't know until a few weeks before we go out late August, early September. I prefer a community setting. It's nice to get out & see people's home environment. Hospital setting is a bit too restrictive for me.

Since I've never noticed any of these posters acting trollish, I assume this is how they honestly feel, which leads me to a horrible conclusion that JAS is right - there seems to be an inherent resentment towards us ''Balkan nations'' among German people. I've always thought the Seles incident received such shockingly inadequate (to say the least) treatment due to the fact that she was from a wrecked country that couldn't stand up for her. But what I find eerie is some of these serious(!) comments are along the lines of ''stop whining about it you blood-thirsty Balkan savages, you're all irrelevant and so was Seles''. Or am I being a bit paranoid?

I honestly think that it is GM trolling and maybe posters personal opinion? At least that's not something I usually pick up in real life. Neither about Balkan countries in general, nor about Seles.
However, I don't remember how the Seles stabbing was handled in the news back then since I was like 6 years and obviously don't know how media dealt with it.

I don't remember it either. Actually, I do remember, but only what I read in Serbian/Yugoslav press (it was before Internet, obviously). What I meant is how that uniquely appalling and shocking event in the history of sports has apparently faded very quickly form the collective memory. I swear Tonia Harding case got more publicity - I think more young people would know of that incident than of Seles'. And the fact that some people still claim that none of Steffi's slams have asterisks next to them. It wasn't her fault by any means, but in my eyes, her entire career has an asterisk next to it after that event, just as Seles' does. Hell, women's tennis should have an asterisk next to it!

I think this is true and very sad. It was such a shocking event in tennis history and it needs to be remembered.
And I find it so unnecessary to have all these threads where people argue about slams, achievements and such. Of course, Graf's career needs to be seen in the light of the attack but at the same time it doesn't take away from the fact that Steffi was a tremendous player. But so was Monica and she lost a career and tennis was robbed of a potential great rivalry (who is to say she would have beaten all the time? Could have turned into a fantastic thing).
But regarding the psychological hurt it caused to Monica these discussions seem less important tbh. It's a shame it could ever happen at all.

I wasn't that much of a tennis fan back then, but when I consider their respective game-styles, I'd be a Graf fan now sooner than a Seles fan, so I'm not even hating on Steffi or disputing her achievements, I just feel that what happened to Seles must never be forgotten, no matter how unfair it might seem towards Graf. I do obviously agree that both Graf (someone can always point out those asterisks) and tennis fans (what you said) were robbed of something, but nothing can be compared to what Seles was robbed of at 19 - a career and a life free of such a trauma (she's always been an eccentric person, but who knows how her life might have turned out?)

I wish that too. Actually she was able to do it back in her heyday but only against players even more mental than herself (or simply inferior). Agatha can do it with anybody because she has that I-don't-give-a-damn attitude, she's going to stand there and moonball to the last point if she can't do anything else that day. Jelena will give up right away, whine and faux-ballbash herself out of the match as soon as the bullish opponent starts terrorising her. She either really thought that Serena would be her BFF who would mentor her or she tries to sell a story everybody is talking about or she got screwed by the paper which took advantage of her (most likely) inexperience with media and they just asked the right questions...
But I agree with you, it would be highly strange to have an active player as someone who is actively supporting you.

She's obviously a bit immature so all of the above is possible. It'll blow over, teenage stars say all kind of idiotic things all the time. I just hope it doesn't turn out she has a crazy parent(s) or agent manipulating her to create ''scandals'' in order to garner media attention.

Honestly when's the last time she won a match? :tape: I remember in Miami she beat Govortsova, but she was actually bageled; was that her last win? :tape:

She's obviously a bit immature so all of the above is possible. It'll blow over, teenage stars say all kind of idiotic things all the time. I just hope it doesn't turn out she has a crazy parent(s)or agent manipulating her to create ''scandals'' in order to garner media attention.

For some reason, they look so right together. Plus, Jelena really annoys me - that clean-cut image, always showing those pearly whites, always perfectly coiffured and composed. Ew, that kind of ''perfect'' people make me want to punch them in the face. :sobbing: Give me Martha's bitch stares any day. Novak should also stop with trying to give off that ''nice guy'' image. Both him and Martha use their ''brand'' personas more than their real ones, whatever those might be. Together, they somehow look more normal.

:hysteric: I had no idea you felt that way about Princess Ristic :bigcry: Re: Novak persona is so true. He's definitely not the Mr. Nice guy he's so desperate to portray. Speaking of Eastbourne, 'bourne GOAT had 3 BPs to start the match against Azarenka and now is down 1-4 :[

EDIT: She actually beat Azarenka in the final of Eastbourne  thank you Katya for saving that tournament from it's demise

Yes, we need untainted tournaments for our Empress. meaning that out of the GSs, she'll have to win Wimbledon (again).

 I don't give her much thought, but when I see her, she does annoy me. Perhaps it's just my subconscious jealousy stemming from a yearning to not look like Woody Allen's female counterpart for once, but like non-neurotic, well put-together, composed and articulate person. :sobbing:
As for Novak and his personality, I think he's too much of a brand in Serbia (and, apparently, other 3rd world countries) to be allowed to act naturally all of the time. He probably has as big a PR team as Sharapova. I don't think he's as fake as Federer either, but all that ''Novak Cuddling a Puppy'', ''Novak shedding a Tear for His Grandfather'', ''Novak promoting World Peace'' BS we get in Serbian media every day really has to piss one off. I much prefer him when he taunts unfriendly crowds by beating his chest like a lunatic and cursing at them. I don't like people to be too likeable. :sobbing:

I don't find Novak fake or anything, I think he's a completely normal person. His biggest problem is his huge popularity in Serbia and the media hype. They're following his every step, writing about him all the time. OTOH, since he's represented as Serbian biggest brand, he has a huge responsibility because he's a role model. Considering all that, I'm surprised that he's so sane and down to earth. His father is another story tho. Although I really like Novak, I can see why some people dislike him (Joana, JJExpress etc.). The combo of media hype and the arrogance gets him a lot of negative publicity. I don't know if you ever went to Serbia Open. The whole place looked like The temple of holy Novak. His statue, Novak parasols, Novak glasses, Novak towels, Novak restaurant... Creepy.

I dislike Ristic too. Too much sweetness makes me wanna puke. It might sound hypocritical since I'm Anka's fan, but that's different type of sweetness. Ana is like a child, Ristic is somehow... IDK.

She might be an amazing person tho. It's just my impression.

I'm surprised the umpire didn't issue a code violation. Yes, it wasn't in English, but it must have been obvious he wasn't inviting them home for a dinner. :oh: The umpire probably didn't want to antagonize things further. He's clearly no Mariana Alves!

I'm 10000000% sure that some Serbian idiot would have said the same if the rumours about her and Djokovic had been proved true.

Not the journalist tho. I think that Bulgarians are even worse than us in that aspect. In fact, I'm surprised how Lima and Jaric never got as much publicity as I would've expected.

Oh God, I hate those two. They both seem dumb as a post, and Jaric is superugly, to boot. :tears:

I don't like to be shallow, but I'm going to be. She can do so much better than that. It's so sad :bigcry: I'm sure he's a nice person :o

I don't think Jaric attractive at all. Talking about attractive, Raonic made it on the 'Canada's Most Beautiful' list :spit:

When I saw that their daughter looked like Jaric, all I could think was: How can she waste her beautiful genes like that?? :rolls: Lima is unbelievably beautiful, but she looks a bit vapid as well.

Oh my. :spit: Raonic is kind of likeable in a big teddy bear way, but attractive? Perhaps those big strong lumberjack types are in demand in Canada.
