Very amazing, what happened to Capriati... ?

I saw the whole match, never thought during the first set it would be historical.
I'm very happy now. Well done Marlene!

It wasn't what happened with Capriati, it was what happened to Weingartner, THAT was amazing. She just started to play her tennis, what all women should do against the topplayers but few do.

Me too. Watched the entire match "live", and the
first set was light years apart from the 2nd, and 3rd.
I like Jen; but Marlene played spectacular tennis.
She was down at 6-2, 0-3 when a 360
degree turn happened. The shots were mind blowing.
It was weird seeing Jen; who some claim is one of
the great returners of the game actually miss hit
a couple of return serves. How often does this ever
happen? It just blew me away.

Really wanted Jen to take it to the limit for the title
this year; but what can you say when Marlene
took her game into dizzy heights?

last year MARLENE lost here in the fourth round in a match like this against AMÉLIE MAURESMO. i was thinking all the time to that match in which MARLI had this 360 degree turn. she played as great as today but lost at the end 0:6, 6:4, 5:7. i am so happy that luck (and this unbelievable tennis) was on her side today!

Jennifer lost? :o :o I was just watching some on TV, and they went to a TB and I thought "Yeah Jennifer will wrap it up". I left the house, came back (didnt bother to switch on the TV) and I find out here

I started watching at 2-6 4-5 and was thinking that the match was about to end. It seemed from then on Marlene was just playing spectacular tennis. She hit with so much power and audacity, I was amazed at how well she was playing. Although I hadn;t seen her before, I'd seen her results over the past few months and was just stunned. I love upsets, they add much interest and really open up the draws.

Sorry- TS. I'm just loving my "live" coverage here
in Singapore. It's just a 3 hour time difference, and
it's very exciting.

Do you guys think Marlene will get far now?
Or do you think this was just a one time thing?

She's got a reasonable draw. Could progress a few rounds. I think the very furthest she can go is the last 16, where she would meet Alexandra Stevenson.

Saw the whole match and thought Cap had it in the second. Her 1st serve was awful. Marlene was very hit and miss. She missed more that she hit, but when Cap started to slip in the second Marlene all of the sudden got alot of confidence. And even though she was still off more than on, she went for it and won.

Not a great match IMO.

lol..it would be a 180 degree turn for Marlene..not a 360 degree turn. ;)

Otherwise Marlene would be right back where she started from with a full turn. :p

Not to slight Marlene but I'm still *stunned* by Jennifer's loss. To me that just means she's *not* confident right now. But Jennifer is a champion so she'll regroup. :)

It's a shame Capriati is out (I wonder if her eye problem affected her more than she's admitting?) but from the parts I saw, Marlene played very well indeed and deserved the win, so congrats to her.

It was a good match but I didn't expect that Jennifer was going to lose.
