I'm surprised we didn't have one yet.
Opening match on a show court. This is one she should win, but you can only relax once you have the win under your belt. The first match is the most important.

"Shonda", as I and a lot of people prefer to pronounce it, has perhaps the widest range between her best and her worst on the tour. Given her wonderful support of American junior tennis, I practically worship her. Ironically, while the W/S inspire far more black kids to want to play, many only get the chance because of Chanda's circuit.

Got the first match out of the way. Here's hoping Chanda relaxes and steps it up a bit. We all know how tough Mary is. Best of luck, Chanda!

When I said for her to relax, I didn't mean for her to take the first set off. Yeesh! Apparently Chanda's strategy in her singles and doubles matches was to lull the opponents into a false sense of security by giving away a 0 set off the bat. :) She's going to have to avoid that habit of getting down 6-0 right away. (I'm getting too old for this.) Had Mary been more match tough, she might be in the 3rd round instead.

So, where are all of the Chanda fans? Did she kill them all?

Good luck in the doubles today, Chanda, and in the 3rd round against the very dangerous Barbara Schwartz.

A very impressive win today, although it was closer than the score indicated. Judging by the stats, it was a high quality match. To hold someone as good as Barbara to only 5 games when she has a 2/1 W/UE ratio is damned impressive.

You made it through the first week, Chanda! (Although I almost didn't. :)) Now is when the main show starts. Good luck in the doubles tomorrow, and good luck in the R16 match vs Anastasia.

Well played Chanda, I thought the Barbara could have been a real struggle for her. Good luck in doubles tomorrow!:)
I really think she can beat Myskina and reach the quarters, where she will have to overcome/forget her recent matches against Kim!
GO CHANDA!!!!:D:D
