*** Patty Schnyder cheering thread ***evaz Jan 10th, 2003, 12:16 PM GO PATTY!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Greenout Jan 10th, 2003, 01:08 PM Count me in!! I've been away from the boards;but damn it- hell I'm back. Who freakin cares if PS didn't do well in the warm-ups. I say great- don't want to see our Enigma peak too early. It just feels great seeing her in the top 16 on a draw for a GS again. We don't care if you don't like her or whatever. Patty appreciation is very similar to Wine appreciation. Either you understand the difference between richness in special bottles versus the popular label. You have to know what "good tennis" is comprehend the genius of the Schnyder game. SO THERE!! evaz Jan 10th, 2003, 01:13 PM wb Greenout :) vogus Jan 11th, 2003, 04:25 AM Word up to the Green! "We don't care if you don't like her!" chorused the Patty fans! GO ENEMA! (oops, I mean, ENIGMA!) evaz Jan 11th, 2003, 07:32 AM here's the schedule for monday: Show Court 2 10:00 AM Start 1. Women's Singles - 1st Rnd. Ai Sugiyama (JPN)[21] vs. Angelique Widjaja (INA) followed by: 2. Men's Singles - 1st Rnd. Fernando Meligeni (BRA) vs. Sebastien Grosjean (FRA)[12] 3. Men's Singles - 1st Rnd. David Ferrer (ESP) vs. Hyung-Taik Lee (KOR) 4. Women's Singles - 1st Rnd. Wynne Prakusya (INA) vs. Patty Schnyder (SUI)[12] GO PATTY!!!!!!!! Greenout Jan 11th, 2003, 08:02 AM Hmm let's see- last match of the day on Court 2 after a no doubt olympic megathon courtesy of Meligini vs Seb. Oh Christ! This silly match could take 4 hours if we're lucky!!! What... Patty plays at what 1900 hrs??? Greenout Jan 11th, 2003, 08:05 AM Oh don't mind me friends. I just get cranky seeing a play-a that I like get the last match of the day on a court. Oh welll.. thank the moon, and the stars that a certain Anna K something or another isn't scheduled on the same court as the "ENGIMA". Hahah. "ENIGMA". Sounds like something from a superhero comic. schnyder lover Jan 11th, 2003, 11:09 AM why is it being made out that patty has so many people against her? we fans know her quality, but we really should not expect everyone else to, as she still really has to show she can reproduce her form this year, otherwise it could be back to the bad of days of being ranked 30-50. she may be under-rated, but i have never seen anyone on this board go on about how they do not like her. i agree that it is great though to see her back where she belongs. i must have become accustomed to the old days because i was shocked when i saw she was on show court two against prakusya. great to see though! i really hope she makes it to the fourth round, bc then i will see her play hantuchova, which should be great. she has a chance in my opinion to make her first grand slam semi-final here, and who knows, maybe she will even take the whole thing. now that would really shut up these doubters you speak of! GO PATTY! Greenout Jan 11th, 2003, 11:37 AM Patty vs Daniela? That would be fantastic. 2 very interesting talented Euro's who know can hit winners from a whisper to a scream. Let's bring back classy tennis in 2003. Ok- sure we had are moments in 2002 Patty winning, Maggie, even Chanda for the all court playa- talented stick handling along with very clever or brainy net moves. I'm just joking- about the "THEM against Patty" thing; but I just always got the feeling that only the insiders knew just how incredible of a talent she is. I go back to my favorite tennis year 1998- 2 of my favorite players were Patty, and Rios. LOL. I guess I'm just a sucker for clever tennis ala Natasha Zvereva. Day 1 isn't too bad. There's alot of interesting matches all over the AO opening day. The bottom half IMHO def. looks to be more entertaining. If FC Basel can be the surprise of the UEFA Champions League? Why can't Swiss tennis have it's day in the sun again? Actually with Patty; it's more about being her own worst enemy. She can beat anybody on a given day- if she feel's up to it. evaz Jan 11th, 2003, 01:06 PM Wll, her draw is pretty good and a fourth round matchup with Hantuchova is possible. Ayway she's able to gain many ranking points at the AO, because she lost her first round match last year against Monica Seles :) Tennisfan-Mtl Jan 11th, 2003, 02:49 PM Good luck against Wynne :D I also think Patty has a pretty good draw. That's the first thing I noticed the first time I looked at the draw :) Tennisfan-Mtl Jan 13th, 2003, 06:15 AM Patty had an easy match against Wynne beating her 6-3, 6-1 :) Good luck in the next round...and cut down on your errors ;) :) gorecki Jan 13th, 2003, 06:23 AM Patty next plays the winner of Marrero/Kostanic. Come on Patty! :) evaz Jan 13th, 2003, 06:29 AM She really has to cut down her errors - 43 errors in a match lasting 58 minutes is way too much. Anyway she's through to the second round, that's the important thing about it. btw Marrero and Kostanic are just playing a first set tie breaker :) Greenout Jan 13th, 2003, 10:08 AM It must be my lucky year. Patty's match from set number 2 was featured tape delayed toward the ending of the day session on SUPER SPORTS Singapore channel 22. It's actually the world feed from Channel 7 in Australia- but great to see Patty. Could not really judge Patty's form since Wynne didn't play any warm of tournaments pre AO 2003 , and she played like it. It was average on quality; but seeing Patty on court made it nice. It's just not the sort of thing I've encountered in my previous USA telecasts of grand slams. :) evaz Jan 13th, 2003, 10:11 AM have you seen the doubles draw??? Patty is playing together with Rita Grande and they're going to face Serena and Venus in the first round :( They're both going to have more time to concentrate on the singles competition! Greenout Jan 13th, 2003, 10:16 AM Really? No- have not looked at doubles partnerships yet. Rita and Patty? Too bad about facing the you know who team. Oh well- at least they'll have a good laugh about the bad ass "In your FACE" gamesmenship of their opponents. Tennisfan-Mtl Jan 13th, 2003, 12:14 PM Facing the Williams in the 1st round...Well, we ALL know what's going to happen, don't we ?? ;) Patty will be facing Marrero in the 2nd round. She should get through in two, or maybe three sets :) evaz Jan 13th, 2003, 06:43 PM yeah, I'd also say that Patty should win her second round match in two sets :) Beat Jan 13th, 2003, 06:50 PM nice win, patty! but i agree with schnyderfan, patty'll have to cut down on those UE's. oh, and the doubles draw ... :o who knows, it'd be a scream if patty & rita could pull this one off! ;) evaz Jan 14th, 2003, 03:59 PM here's the schedule for tomorrow: Court 18 Start 10:00 AM 1. Felix Mantilla (ESP) vs. Jan-Michael Gambill (USA)[27] 2. Marta Marrero (ESP) vs. Patty Schnyder (SUI)[12] 3. Nicolas Escude (FRA)[29] vs. Christophe Rochus (BEL) 4. Frantisek Cermak (CZE) / Leos Friedl (CZE) vs. Andrew Florent AUS) / Sandon Stolle (AUS) GO PATTY!!!!!!111 Beat Jan 14th, 2003, 04:06 PM 2002-08-19 New Haven Hardcourt R32 Patty Schnyder (SUI) 6-4 6-1 Patty Schnyder (SUI) leads 1:0 GO PATTY! :D Tennisfan-Mtl Jan 14th, 2003, 09:56 PM Good luck against Marta :D Patty should reach the third round in two sets :) Tennisfan-Mtl Jan 15th, 2003, 03:21 AM Patty Schnyder def. Marta Marrero 6-3, 6-1 :D Next up for Patty will be Nadia Petrova :) Greenout Jan 15th, 2003, 03:22 AM Hurrah- Patty is on to round 3. :) fammmmedspin Jan 15th, 2003, 03:31 AM Patty's got her fighting hat on Match Summary Marrero(ESP) Schnyder(SUI) 1st Serve % 26 of 48 = 54 % 51 of 75 = 68 % Aces 1 3 Double Faults 2 3 Unforced Errors 31 31 Winning % on 1st Serve 11 of 26 = 42 % 30 of 51 = 59 % Winning % on 2nd Serve 8 of 22 = 36 % 12 of 24 = 50 % Winners (Including Service) 12 26 Break Point Conversions 2 of 11 = 18 % 6 of 7 = 86 % :bounce: Net Approaches 4 of 13 = 31 % 5 of 7 = 71 % Total Points Won 52 71 evaz Jan 15th, 2003, 06:16 AM congrats Patty :) schnyder lover Jan 15th, 2003, 06:33 AM i think patty must have played a much better match today (although the score was the same as the 1st round). when her unforced errors and winners are close it usually means she is playing pretty well. she is going to have to lift against petrova though, despite her strong record against her. treufreund Jan 15th, 2003, 06:41 AM PATTY :D :bounce: Tennisfan-Mtl Jan 15th, 2003, 06:42 AM Petrova will be tough I'm afraid...Hope Patty keeps a positive attitude out there :) evaz Jan 15th, 2003, 06:57 AM Petrova is going to be tough - that's right, but Patty is leading in the hth 3-1. She won the last one at last year's US Open in three close sets. GO PATTY!!! Beat Jan 15th, 2003, 09:45 AM woooo, patty, cool win! did anyone actually see her play? good luck against petrova, you'll need it! :bounce: schnyder lover Jan 15th, 2003, 12:19 PM patty will defeat petrova 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 i predict, or she will lose 2-6, 2-6. gorecki Jan 15th, 2003, 02:51 PM :) Patty gorecki Jan 15th, 2003, 02:54 PM Come on Patty! you and Rita have to do your very best in the doubles tomorrow! :fiery: :bounce: [S@nti] Jan 15th, 2003, 04:48 PM Marta was injured today  Go Patty !! :D:D You can reach the 4th round evaz Jan 15th, 2003, 07:31 PM Patty's and Rita's doubles match against the Williams sisters is scheduled on the Vodafone Arena as the fourth match.
