Hope you guys enjoy it, its looong.
Fujiwara vs. Krasnoroutskaya (Best match of the day)
Excelent match. Both players going at it stroke for stroke. Lina’s backhand is deadly. Many times she would pummel rikas second serve into the corner using her backhand….. also Lina did most things great during this match – it was very evenly fought. Rika was constantly looking to attack and put pressue on Lina, Rika saved some crucial points by taking the backhand extremely early and charging the net….. this made for some great tennis.Rika hits quite hard… as expected she used Lina’s pace many times. There was a large crowd watching this match…. Rika looks promising for singles this year if she continues to play like that. Lina is also in great shape.her mum and coaches were looking on…(often Lina would mutter to herself in russian - cute)
.. while Asagoe was watching Rika – she laughed many times at Rika because of the high quality play. :) I like Lina’s attitude…. She’s a great fighter and I love her ‘c’mons’! They were both very motivated for this match.
Harkeload vs. Van Exel
Harkeroad did everything too good. She hits with extreme power and accuracy. She did everything better then Anjouska. The dutch girl was dominated and relentlessly run from side to side until Ashley found an opening to crush the ball. Ashley is for shure in great form….. she was one of the most impressive players of the day. Anjouska was an o.k player but not strong or fast enough for Ahsley.. she would hang in the point until Ashley only got stronger. Ashley really is a talent....not just a pretty face.... her game outclassed her opponent in ALL parts of the game toaday.
Yoshida vs. Schwartz
Barbara was better then Yuka from the start. Poor Yuka tried to motivate her self by urging herself on….. but in the end Barbara is a class above and ended every point with a beautiful winner. She dominated Yuka with her slice and then finished her off with a powerful lefty forehand drive. Yuka has no weapons and could not match Barbara. Yuka could only rally a bit until Barbara played a class above. It started quite evenly but ended very one sided. Barbara had a big serve, nice slice and heavy forehand, ---everythuing Yuka didn't.
Sharapova vs. Voracova
Voracova hit harder and more penetrating then Maria. Maria screeeaaamed when she hit the ball. Big and loud screeches! She wiould float the ball deep over and over while Renata belted it hard…. Then all of a sudden Maria would slam the crap through it and SCREAM as she did it crowds of people were being attracted by her screams….. also she is already becoming a sex object whether she likes it or not, men were all foaming from the mouth watching her.. Renata really wanted to win this match…. Sharapova was just better in the end….. she can definently crush the ball harder then most top 50 players…..but she is surprisingly smart and controlled often just topspinning the ball deep until she gets the chance….. Lina and even Fujiwara appeared to hit more powerfull then Maria……. But its only when Maria really decides to unleash is when u see the true power in her shots….. her talent however, was quite clear.Renata was quite frustrated by the end of this match.... she got a bit down i think. I can already see Maria rolling through players like Chladkova, Rittner and Pratt, who are all solid and respectable players. Voracova is no slouch either.... she is a good player with some power of her own.
Obata vs. Stewart
This was an o.k match. It started V.ERY bad……. Bryanne was obviously nervous and could not keep the ball in the court. Obata is very smart but very weak…. Soari is not at all powerful… especially her lefty forehand looks very shaky her backhand is beautiful though. Bryanne did not seem like a great player at all ….. her first serve went in 1/20 and Soari hit some nice winners off her second serve. Bryanne’s only good shot was her forehand, and even that was very shaky. We definently didn’t see the best of her today. Soari however was very giggly, often smiling and looking very confident. Asagoe was also watching this match.
KutiKis vs. Vakulenko
How does Rita win matches? She’s weak, quite slow and way too loopy. Her backhand has a short backswing and is not deep at all. I don’t know how she beat Capriati. Rita has an attractive game, but it never seems affective. Vakulenko hits very hard and did not look bothered at all by Rita’s game today. Rita appears to have lost SOME weight… but her legs are still very fatty. She has a nice attractive game….but with the power that is coming into the game….she is really getting dominated.
Loudest grunters
1. Sharapova
2. Lee-Waters
3. Snyder
4. Schwartz
Notes:
Marosi was very impressive, she hits very hard and has a nice game. Can break the 100 again with her game
Santagelo seems like one to watch out for to move up this year….. nice game.
Lee was playing quite good against Montolio. Appears to have cranked up her power from the baseline though she is still inconsistent.
Obziler is not powerful, but played nice and tricky. She frustrated her opponent into errors.
Parra is quite a good player….. she hits very hard and has great groundies….she needs to work on consistency though. Especially off the forehand.
